Aurum Range Breakout is a fully automated Expert Advisor for Gold (XAUUSD) on MetaTrader 5. It trades one of the best-known session patterns in gold: the quiet Asian session builds a range, and the London session often breaks it.

HOW IT TRADES

1. Range: from 00:00 to 05:00 GMT the EA records the high and low of the Asian session.

2. Orders: at 05:00 GMT it places a Buy Stop just above the range and a Sell Stop just below it (buffer 5% of the range width). The first order filled wins; the other one is cancelled automatically (OCO).

3. Protection: the Stop Loss is on the other side of the range and is sent with the order. Take profit at 1R. Days with a range that is too narrow or too wide compared with the daily ATR are skipped.

4. Flat: unfilled orders are cancelled at 15:00 GMT and an open trade is closed at 16:00 GMT.

At most one trade per day. Never a grid, martingale, averaging or recovery lot. No trade is held overnight, so there are no swap costs.

TIME ZONE

All session hours are in GMT. The broker's server time zone is detected automatically, also in the Strategy Tester (brokers on GMT+0 and brokers on GMT+2/+3 New York close). You can also set it manually.

RECOMMENDED SETTINGS

Symbol: XAUUSD (any suffix, e.g. XAUUSDm, GOLD). Any chart timeframe gives the same trades; M15 is convenient. One chart is enough.
Regular accounts: risk per trade 0.5% (default).
Prop-firm accounts: risk per trade 0.25%, daily loss limit 2%, max drawdown stop 8% (set file in the user guide).
Recommended deposit: 2,000 USD or more. On smaller accounts the 0.01 minimum lot risks more than 0.5% on many days.
A broker with low gold spreads; a VPS is recommended.
