Aurum Gold Portfolio is a fully automated Expert Advisor for Gold (XAUUSD) on MetaTrader 5. Instead of one strategy it runs five independent breakout engines at the same time, so the risk is spread over different timeframes, channel lengths and exits.
HOW IT TRADES
- Every engine watches a price channel: the highest high and the lowest low of its last N bars (support and resistance).
- At each bar it places a Buy Stop at the channel high and a Sell Stop at the channel low. Engines with a trend filter only place the order in the direction of their EMA. Unfilled orders are cancelled and refreshed at the next bar.
- When one side fills, the other order of that engine is cancelled. Every order is sent with its Stop Loss (2.5 to 4 x ATR) and an ATR take profit; two engines also trail the stop.
- Each engine holds at most one trade. Four engines run on H4 bars that the EA builds in GMT, so every broker gets the same signals; the fifth runs on H1 with half risk.

BACKTEST RESULTS (Strategy Tester, XAUUSD, real broker MT5 data, 1-minute OHLC, July 2021 - September 2026)
- 100,000 USD, 0.5% risk per trade: +77.9% net, profit factor 1.20, recovery factor 5.53, 2,104 trades, win rate 60.0%, max relative drawdown 10.3%
- By year (0.5% risk): 2021 (Jul-Dec) -3.8%, 2022 +1.7%, 2023 +19.0%, 2024 +10.9%, 2025 +24.4%, 2026 (Jan-Sep) +10.8%
- Prop-firm setting (max DD 6%, daily loss 3%, stop at 9%) on 100,000 USD: +40.3%, max drawdown 6.0%
- Default setting (max DD 10%) on 10,000 USD: +80.1%, profit factor 1.19, max drawdown 17.1%
- Default setting on 5,000 USD: +190.0%, profit factor 1.25, max drawdown 22.4%
Below about 25,000 USD the broker's 0.01 minimum lot is larger than the requested risk on the H4 engines, so returns and drawdowns are both higher than the setting suggests. Built for gold only. On EURUSD, GBPUSD, USDJPY and BTCUSD the same engines lost money in our tests, so we do not recommend it for those symbols.
RISK SETTING: MAX ALLOWED DRAWDOWN
Choose the drawdown you are willing to accept (default 10%). The EA turns it into the risk per trade (max DD / 20, so 10% gives 0.5% per trade), with a safety margin over the worst drawdown of the full portfolio in the backtest (about 15 risk units). You can also use a fixed % per trade or a fixed lot. A trade is skipped when even the minimum lot would risk more than 3% of equity (adjustable).

ACCOUNT PROTECTION
- Daily loss limit: closes the EA's trades, cancels its orders and pauses for the day (default 4%)
- Optional drawdown stop from the equity peak
- Friday: orders are cancelled and no new ones are placed from 20:00 GMT, so nothing is filled in the weekend gap
- Spread, free margin, broker stop/freeze levels, order limits and trading session checks before every order
- Works on hedging and netting accounts
RECOMMENDED SETTINGS
- Symbol: XAUUSD (any suffix, e.g. XAUUSDm, GOLD). Attach to one chart; the chart timeframe does not matter.
- Regular accounts: max allowed drawdown 10% (default).
- Prop-firm accounts: max DD 6%, daily loss limit 3%, drawdown stop 9%, set a little inside your firm's rules.
- Recommended deposit: 5,000 USD or more for the full portfolio, 25,000 USD or more for exact risk sizing on every engine.
- A broker with low gold spreads; a VPS is recommended.
