AuroraGold trades gold in the direction of the higher-timeframe trend, and never against it.
Gold trends hard and shakes traders out inside those trends. AuroraGold is built for exactly that behaviour: it waits for the H1 trend to be unambiguous, then enters only when price has already paid for the entry with a pullback, or has broken cleanly out of a range.
How it decides
Direction. A trade is only considered when the H1 EMA50 is above the EMA200, price is above the EMA200, the EMA is still sloping in that direction, and ADX confirms a trend is present. Mirrored for shorts. If those conditions disagree, the EA does not trade at all.
Entry. Two patterns, both requiring the trend filter to agree first:
- Pullback — RSI dips into the pullback zone, then recovers, and the last closed M15 bar closes above the previous bar's high and above the EMA20.
- Breakout — the last closed bar closes beyond a 24-bar Donchian extreme and beyond the EMA20.
Either can be disabled. Pullback rewards patience inside a trend; breakout catches the days that run away without offering one.
Stop. ATR-based and deliberately wide (3× ATR by default). A tight stop on M15 gold sits inside the noise and turns recoverable trades into full losses. Position size is derived from the stop distance, so a wider stop means a smaller lot, not more risk.
Exit. Part of the position is banked at the first target, the stop then moves to break-even, and the remainder trails an ATR chandelier so a strong move is never capped by a fixed take profit.
What it will not do
- No martingale. Lot size never increases after a loss.
- No grid or averaging. One position at a time by default; losers are not "rescued".
- No hidden stops. Every position is sent with a real stop loss attached.
- No cherry-picked equity curve. Losses are realised when they happen.
Risk controls

Position size is priced through the broker's own profit calculation rather than the symbol's tick value, and a final check refuses any order that would risk materially more than requested — so a symbol with an unusual contract specification cannot cause oversized trades.
Requirements
- Symbol: XAUUSD (any broker naming — XAUUSDm, GOLD, etc.)
- Timeframe: M15 (the trend timeframe is a separate input, H1 by default)
- Account: hedging or netting, ECN or standard
- Minimum balance: see the note below — this matters more than most settings
Account size
Position size is derived from the stop distance, and no broker sells less than 0.01 lots. On gold that smallest position carries a fixed dollar risk, so on a small account it can exceed the percentage you asked for. The EA prints the required balance for your risk setting on every startup:
If your balance is below that line the EA will refuse most signals rather than over-risk. Use a cent account for small balances, or raise the risk percent to a level your balance supports. Read the startup log before your first live session.
Diagnostics
Every run reports why it did or did not trade — a per-filter bar census, a spread census, monthly and weekly consistency, and attribution of results by entry hour and weekday. If the EA is quiet, the log tells you which filter is responsible instead of leaving you guessing.
Honest note on performance
Results depend heavily on your broker's spread and price feed. In testing, the same settings over the same period produced materially different outcomes across brokers. Backtest on your account before committing money, use the included .set presets as a starting point rather than a guarantee, and run a demo period first.
