Trend day, range day, reversal, inside day, outside day: traders use these words every day, but rarely count them. Day Type Map names every day on the chart, shows what today is so far, and counts how this symbol's past days were split.
What you see
- On the chart: each recent day underlined and named in its colour; today named as it forms ("Range so far").
- The panel: the six day types with their share of past days, how many days each had, and how long ago each last happened.
The figures
Over the last 250 days, range days were 32% of days on gold, 39% on US500, 40% on EURUSD and 34% on USDJPY. Trend-up days were 17%, 14%, 9% and 20%. Every day's type is recomputed by a separate implementation before each release.
Plain rules
Each day is typed from its own prices and the previous day's high and low, with the same fixed rules for every symbol. Only finished days are counted; today can still change until it closes.
Settings in brief
Past days in the split (250 by default), how many recent days are marked, colours, panel corner and size, a key (H) that hides or shows everything, and an alert when today's type changes.
