Gold SR Retest is a fully automated Expert Advisor for gold (XAUUSD / GOLD) on MetaTrader 5. It trades break-and-retest setups at key price levels: support and resistance, trendlines and order blocks.
HOW IT WORKS
- Finds key levels automatically on M15 and confirms entries on M5
- Waits for price to break a level and come back to retest it before entering
- Every trade has a fixed Stop Loss, and Take Profit is set at 3x the risk (1:3 risk-reward)
- Only one trade open at a time
- No martingale, no grid, no averaging, no hedging
- Lot size is calculated automatically from your risk % and the stop distance
- Spread filter: skips a trade when the spread is too large compared with the stop loss
- Daily profit target: stops trading for the day once the target is reached

PLEASE READ BEFORE BUYING
These are backtest results, not live trading results. Past performance does not guarantee future results. With a 1:3 risk-reward and a win rate around 30%, the EA loses more trades than it wins and relies on its winners being larger than its losers. Losing streaks of 8 or more trades are normal for this strategy, and at 4% risk per trade the drawdown in testing reached about 50%. 4% risk is aggressive. I recommend starting on a demo account and using a lower risk, for example 1-2% per trade, on a live account. Please run your own test in the Strategy Tester with your broker's data before trading real money.
WHY LOSING STREAKS ARE NORMAL
- Every trade risks 1R and aims for 3R, so one win pays for three losses.
- Example with a 30% win rate over 10 trades: 3 wins x 3R = +9R, 7 losses x 1R = -7R, net +2R.
- At 1:3, the strategy breaks even at about a 25% win rate. Above that it grows the account over time; below that it loses. Spreads and fees reduce results a little.
- Losing streaks of 8 or more trades happen. That is why the risk setting matters.
RISK SETTING
- Choose 1%, 2%, 3% or 4% risk per trade from a simple dropdown in the EA settings.
- Example at 2% risk on a $10,000 account: each loss is about $200, each win about $600.
- Lower risk means smaller drawdowns and slower growth. 4% matches the backtest above but is aggressive.
