Identify High-Velocity Trend Breakouts From Apex Pinch Formations
Trading during narrowing triangle formations presents significant timing challenges. Navigating inside a tightening range often leads to whipsaws from premature swings, buying into immediate resistance pullbacks, or experiencing stop-outs from indecisive boundary testing. When genuine directional expansion finally occurs, delayed execution frequently causes traders to enter late into exhausted price legs.
This indicator is engineered to systematically identify triangular price compression, where descending swing highs converge with ascending swing lows, highlighting the market transition when expansion breaks free. By filtering low-volume, erratic chop inside the coil structure, it delivers structured on-chart confirmation when directional momentum closes outside the pinch boundaries.
The logic is particularly useful during active trading sessions when range compression resolves into strong trending momentum across high-liquidity symbols, liquid instruments, and actively traded markets.
Section 2: Entry Logic and Trade Management
Visual BUY Confirmation
- A setup forms as price action compresses within a tightening triangle formation.
- A bullish expansion candle breaks and closes decisively above the recent structural swing high.
- The signal confirms on the close of the breakout bar, using the open of the subsequent candle as the execution reference.
Visual SELL Confirmation
- A setup forms following price compression within the pinch structure.
- A bearish expansion candle breaks and closes decisively below the recent structural swing low.
- The signal confirms on the close of the breakdown bar, using the open of the subsequent candle as the execution reference.
Structural Stop Loss Placement
- The indicator calculates a protective Stop Loss reference positioned just outside the opposite structural swing extreme of the compression pattern.
- A configurable volatility buffer adds distance beyond the key pivot to accommodate normal spread fluctuations.

- TP1 (0.5R): Initial objective designed for rapid partial scale-outs on early momentum follow-through.
- TP2 (0.8R): Intermediate milestone targeting standard continuation moves.

- All signals and projected levels calculate strictly on bar close.

Signal Filtering (Signal Brake)
Sideways consolidation and two-sided liquidity wicks can generate repeated false signals. The Signal Brake logic is intended to reduce this:
- Limits rapid BUY/SELL flip-flopping in tight consolidation ranges.
- Restricts new same-direction signals while a prior setup is still active.
- Requires a minimum R-distance before the next signal can trigger.
On-Chart Historical Backtest Panel
A built-in panel summarizes how signals performed on historical data for the current settings:
- Historical hit-rate breakdown across TP1, TP2, TP3, and TP4.
- Sample size shown for the configured lookback period.
- Highlights which TP level had the best historical hit-rate for that sample.
