Episode Health Monitor

Episode Health Monitor is a trading utility for MetaTrader 5 designed to analyze the real-time condition of active trading positions directly on the chart.

The tool evaluates the current “trading episode” - a group of open positions - and provides a structured view of risk, stability, and distance to potential failure. Instead of relying only on profit/loss or price movement, it helps identify whether the current position is stable, weakening, or approaching a critical state.

This is particularly useful in fast-moving markets such as XAUUSD (gold), where positions can deteriorate quickly and decisions to hold, add, or reduce exposure must be made under time pressure.

Core Functionality

Episode Health Monitor provides a real-time analysis layer for active positions.

The panel displays three primary metrics:

  • Health: overall condition of the current position structure
  • Risk: estimated pressure and instability level
  • Distance: relative proximity to a potential failure zone

In addition to the main metrics, the tool evaluates:

  • position age and exposure load
  • drift and adverse movement pressure
  • recovery strength from unfavorable price movement
  • deterioration speed of the current structure
  • current market regime (volatility and pullback behavior)

All values are normalized and adaptive, meaning they adjust to current market conditions rather than relying on fixed thresholds.

Decision Support

The tool translates internal metrics into clear state classification:

  • CALM
  • HEATING
  • STRESSED
  • DANGER
  • CRITICAL

Based on the current state, the panel provides action guidance such as:

  • HOLD
  • WATCH
  • NO ADD
  • REDUCE RISK
  • FREEZE
  • EXIT

This allows traders to quickly understand not only what is happening, but what action may be appropriate under current conditions.

Practical Use Case

Many traders face situations where:

  • positions remain open while risk increases gradually
  • drawdown develops without clear warning signals
  • additional entries are made during already unstable conditions
  • recovery becomes weaker but is not immediately visible

Episode Health Monitor addresses this by:

  • highlighting early structural weakness before large drawdown occurs

The goal is not to predict the market, but to improve awareness of the current position condition.

Installation
