Most trading mistakes do not happen during the trade. They happen in the thirty seconds before it.
The setup looks right. The direction feels obvious. So you estimate the lot size quickly, drop a Stop Loss somewhere that looks reasonable, pick a Take Profit that seems far enough - and enter. Then price moves against you by exactly the amount you never properly calculated, and you realise the risk was never what you thought it was.
After years of manual trading, I stopped trusting mental math. I built this tool instead.
What Risk Ratio Planner Does
It is a planning utility for MetaTrader 5. Nothing more, nothing less.
Place three horizontal lines on your chart - Entry, Stop Loss, Take Profit - and the panel instantly shows you everything that matters before you place the order manually:
- Direction detected automatically: BUY or SELL
- Risk and Reward distances in points
- Risk/Reward ratio with a pass or fail check against your minimum
- Lot size calculated using broker-side data, not approximations
- Risk and reward values displayed in your account currency
- Target Risk vs Actual Risk after broker lot rounding is applied
- Spread status, margin estimate and stop level check
- Final status badge: BUY READY/SELL READY/CAUTION/INVALID
The visual Risk and Reward zones are drawn directly on the chart so you can see the planned downside and upside at a glance, without having to interpret numbers while a candle is forming in real time.
The Detail Most Planners Miss: Target Risk vs Actual Risk
You plan to risk 50 USD. You set the lot size accordingly. But your broker enforces a minimum lot step, a specific contract size and its own rounding logic. The lot that gets placed is not always the lot you calculated - and that gap is sometimes larger than you expect.
This panel shows you both figures side by side before you touch the order button. What you intended to risk. What will actually be at risk after broker rounding. On Gold especially, where position sizing matters at every decimal, this is not a minor detail.
Trade Readiness: A Pre-Entry Checklist, Not a Signal
The Trade Readiness section answers five practical questions every time you build a plan:
Spread - Is current spread within your acceptable range, or is it running unusually wide?
Margin - Does your free margin comfortably support this position size?
Stop Level - Is your Stop Loss far enough from current price to be accepted by the broker?
Calculation Mode - Is lot size using broker-side calculation or a fallback estimate?
Status - Is this plan structurally ready, or is something flagging a problem?
These are not signals. The tool does not tell you whether the trade is a good idea. It tells you whether the trade is structurally sound - spread, margin, lot size and risk all reviewed - before you make that decision yourself.
Risk Modes: Percentage or Fixed Money
Some traders think in percentages. Risk one percent of balance, adjust lot size accordingly.
Others think in fixed dollar amounts. I want to risk exactly 25 USD on this setup. Or 50 USD. Or 100 USD - fixed and known before entry.
Both modes are fully supported. Switch between them in the inputs and the panel recalculates everything immediately.
Quick Controls Built Into the Panel
SYNC - Snaps the Entry line to current market price with one click.
RESET - Clears the current plan and returns lines to default positions.
RR 1.5/RR 2.0/RR 3.0 - Preset buttons that automatically reposition your Take Profit to hit the selected Risk/Reward ratio based on your current Entry and Stop Loss. Useful when you want to compare different reward targets quickly during a live session without redrawing manually.

Version 1.1 - What Changed From the Original
Version 1.1 is a complete rebuild of the panel layout and feature set, not a minor patch.
The panel is now divided into four clearly labelled sections: Entry Plan, Risk / Reward, Position Size and Trade Readiness. Each section answers a specific question. You can scan the full plan in seconds and know exactly where things stand before execution.
Visual Risk and Reward zones are now drawn directly on the chart, replacing the need to mentally map distances while watching live price action. Target Risk vs Actual Risk is displayed explicitly rather than left for the trader to calculate separately. Fixed Money risk mode was added for traders who plan around specific dollar amounts. The chart object system was rebuilt with a dedicated prefix to prevent conflicts with other indicators running on the same chart.
Main Features at a Glance
- Drag-and-place Entry, Stop Loss and Take Profit lines on the chart
- Automatic BUY / SELL direction detection based on line positions
- Visual Risk and Reward zones rendered directly on the chart
- Real-time Risk, Reward and RR ratio calculation

- Lot size preview using broker-side calculation where available

Important Notes
Risk Ratio Planner MT5 is a planning utility only.
The tool:
- Does not open trades
- Does not close trades
- Does not modify positions
- Does not place pending orders
- Does not generate buy or sell signals
- Does not manage trades automatically
It is designed to support manual trade preparation and risk review. Every entry decision remains entirely with the trader.
If you notice different values across accounts or brokers, this is expected and is typically related to symbol settings, spread model, contract size, tick value, lot step, margin calculation model or execution environment differences.
