NASDAQHunter — Trend Following EA for NAS100
NASDAQHunter is a trend-following Expert Advisor designed specifically for the NAS100 (NASDAQ 100) CFD instrument. It uses a dual-timeframe architecture with separate entry logic and trade management for long and short positions, reflecting the asymmetric behavior of NAS100 in uptrends versus downtrends.
This EA prioritizes trade quality over quantity. It does not trade frequently. Expect a small number of carefully filtered trades per month rather than daily activity. The strategy is built around high selectivity — only entering when multiple conditions align across two timeframes.
How It Works
The EA operates on two timeframes. A higher timeframe (default H4) determines the trend direction using EMA alignment and ADX strength with directional index confirmation. A lower timeframe (default M30) generates entry signals only when the bias is confirmed.
Long entries use a pullback-to-EMA approach. The EA waits for price to pull back toward the fast EMA on the entry timeframe, then enters on a bullish momentum candle that closes above the EMA. A candle quality filter ensures the confirmation bar has a strong close relative to its range, filtering out indecision candles.
Short entries use an EMA crossover approach. NAS100 selloffs tend to be sharp and fast, making pullback entries unreliable on the short side. The crossover method catches momentum breaks more effectively during these moves.
This separation of entry logic by direction is a core design principle of the EA, based on the observation that NAS100 uptrends and downtrends have fundamentally different price action characteristics.
Trade Management
Stop loss is calculated using ATR from a configurable timeframe (default H1), providing volatility-adaptive risk placement. The ATR multiplier is adjustable.
Trailing stop parameters are fully independent for long and short positions. Each direction has its own trailing mode (percent of price, fixed points, or R-distance), its own values, and shares only the activation threshold. The defaults are set to trail tighter on longs and wider on shorts.
Partial profit taking is available. When price reaches a configurable R-multiple in profit, a percentage of the position is closed and the stop loss can optionally be moved to breakeven. This locks in gains while allowing the remainder to capture extended moves.
Smart lot sizing automatically ensures that the position size is large enough for partial closes to execute. If the calculated lot size would be too small to split, it is raised to the minimum viable size.
Risk Management
Two risk modes are available: percentage of account balance, or a fixed monetary amount in account currency. Min and max lot limits are enforced, and the EA respects broker volume constraints.
When multiple concurrent positions are allowed, risk per trade is automatically divided by the number of permitted positions so total exposure remains controlled.
Filters
Session filter restricts trading to configurable server-time hours. Day filtration allows each weekday (Monday through Friday) to be independently set to long only, short only, both, or disabled. A cooldown parameter prevents new entries for a specified number of bars after a losing trade.
Parameters Overview
The EA is organized into clearly labeled input groups covering general settings, timeframes, entry modes per direction, bias indicators, entry indicators, pullback settings, bounce settings, stop loss, risk management, trailing stop for longs, trailing stop for shorts, partial profit, re-entry, session filter, day filtration, and cooldown.
All parameters have sensible defaults tuned for NAS100 on an M30 entry timeframe with H4 bias. The EA can be used out of the box on NAS100 CFD symbols, though users are encouraged to verify that their broker's symbol name matches and to test on a demo account first.
Important Notes
This EA is designed for NAS100 Cash (CFD) instruments. It has not been optimized for futures contracts or other indices.
The strategy is intentionally selective. There will be extended periods with no open trades, particularly during ranging or low-ADX market conditions. This is by design. The EA only trades when its trend and entry filters align, which may result in fewer than ten trades per month depending on market conditions.
Recommended starting point: run the EA on NAS100, M30 chart, with default settings. Adjust risk parameters to suit your account size and risk tolerance before enabling on a live account.
