Overview
LST Algo is a fully automated Expert Advisor built specifically around the price behavior of EUR/USD on the 5-minute chart. It was engineered to remove emotion and hesitation from trade execution by combining a short-term market-structure confirmation engine with a trend-direction filter, then managing every position with a disciplined, fixed Risk:Reward framework.
Unlike EAs that rely on lagging indicators alone or wait for a single "perfect setup," LST Algo is designed to recognize repeating shifts in short-term price structure and act on every qualifying occurrence — meaning it does not sit on the sidelines waiting for one trade at a time. When market conditions repeatedly satisfy its entry criteria, the EA will open multiple concurrent positions, each managed independently with its own stop loss and take profit.
This EA was built, tested, and optimized specifically for EUR/USD price action and tick behavior. While the underlying engine can technically run on other symbols and timeframes, all design decisions, default parameters, and the testing shown below are based on EUR/USD M5, and that is the only configuration officially supported and recommended.
How It Works (Strategy Concept)
LST Algo combines two layers of analysis that must agree before any trade is placed:
1. Market Structure Shift Detection At the core of the EA is a proprietary structure-confirmation engine that continuously monitors price action for meaningful shifts in short-term directional control. Rather than reacting to every minor fluctuation, the algorithm waits for a confirmed change in the balance between buyers and sellers before flagging a potential trade opportunity. This component is the heart of the system and is what differentiates LST Algo from generic indicator-crossover robots — the specific internal rules of this detection engine are proprietary and are not disclosed.
2. Trend Direction Filter Once a structure shift is detected, the EA cross-checks it against a dual-moving-average trend filter. A trade is only allowed to proceed if the short-term trend filter and the structure shift agree on direction. This filter exists to reduce the number of structure-shift signals that occur against the dominant short-term trend, helping align entries with the prevailing momentum rather than fighting it.
Only when both conditions align does LST Algo execute a trade. There is no manual discretion involved — every qualifying signal is acted upon according to the rules programmed into the EA, and every non-qualifying condition is ignored.
Trade Management & Risk Control
- Fixed Risk-to-Reward — Every single trade opened by LST Algo is placed with a specific take profit. There is no trade management style that deviates from this ratio; it is applied consistently and automatically.
- Structure-Based Stop Placement — Stop losses are derived from recent price structure rather than a fixed pip value, allowing the EA to adapt its risk distance to current market volatility on EUR/USD M5 rather than using a one-size-fits-all stop.
- Multiple Concurrent Trades — LST Algo is not limited to one open position at a time. If conditions produce more than one valid signal, the EA will open an additional position for each one, with each trade carrying its own independent stop loss and take profit.
- One Evaluation Per Candle — All trading logic is evaluated strictly on confirmed, closed 5-minute candles. This eliminates repainting concerns and ensures the EA never opens duplicate trades from the same candle or reacts to incomplete price information mid-bar.
- Adjustable Lot Sizing — Position size is configurable via input parameter, allowing the trader to scale exposure according to their own account size and risk tolerance.
- Optional Spread Filter — An optional maximum-spread input allows the EA to skip trade execution during abnormal spread widening (e.g., around news events or low-liquidity periods), helping avoid poor fills.
- Optional Trading Session Window — LST Algo includes a configurable session filter, allowing the trader to restrict new trade entries to specific hours (for example, the London through New York session overlap). Trades that are already open when the window closes can either be left to run to their own stop loss / take profit, or automatically closed at the session boundary — this behavior is fully selectable.
- Magic Number Tagging — All trades placed by the EA are tagged with a unique magic number, allowing it to run safely alongside other EAs or manual trades on the same account without interference.
- Built-In Execution Safeguards — The EA automatically validates stop distances against the broker's minimum stop level, normalizes lot sizes to the broker's allowed volume step, and selects a supported order-filling mode automatically — reducing the chance of invalid-stop or rejected-order errors across different broker configurations.
Backtesting Results
The results below were produced through historical strategy testing on EUR/USD M5. They are provided for informational and transparency purposes only.
| Metric | Result |
|---|---|
| Investment Gain | $5,843.29 |
| Return on Investment (ROI) | 58.43% |
| Annualized ROI | 36.96% |
| Testing Period (Investment Length) | 1.463 years |
(Based on an approximate $10,000 starting balance over the tested period, fixed lot sizing, as described above.)
Important: Backtested performance is achieved in a simulated environment and does not account for every real-world condition such as broker-specific slippage, variable spread during news events, requotes, latency, or changing liquidity conditions. Past performance — whether backtested or live — is never a guarantee or reliable indicator of future results. Market conditions change, and EUR/USD volatility, spread behavior, and trend characteristics in the future may differ materially from the historical data used in testing. Every trader should independently evaluate the EA on a demo account under their own broker's conditions before considering live use.
Recommended Setup
- Symbol: EUR/USD (designed and tested exclusively for this pair)
- Timeframe: M5 (5-minute chart)
- Account Type: A broker offering tight, consistent spreads and reliable execution (ECN/Raw-spread style accounts are generally preferable for short-timeframe strategies)
- VPS: A low-latency VPS close to your broker's trade server is recommended for any EA trading on a fast timeframe such as M5, to help ensure consistent execution timing
- Hedging/Netting: Compatible with standard MT5 hedging-enabled accounts; multiple simultaneous positions are part of the design
- Starting Capital: Position sizing should always be set according to your own account size and personal risk tolerance — the lot size input does not auto-adjust to balance
Inputs You Can Control
LST Algo exposes a clean, organized set of inputs grouped by function, including:
- Trade settings (lot size, Risk:Reward multiplier, magic number, buy/sell enable switches, slippage allowance)
- EMA trend filter settings
- Spread filter threshold
- Session filter (enable/disable, start time, end time, and whether to force-close trades when the session ends)
- Debug logging toggle for visibility into the EA's decision-making in the terminal Experts tab
The proprietary structure-detection engine that drives signal generation operates internally and is not exposed as an adjustable input, in order to protect the integrity of the core strategy logic.
Who This EA Is Designed For
LST Algo is best suited for traders who:
- Trade or want exposure specifically to EUR/USD
- Are comfortable with an automated system that can hold multiple concurrent positions rather than a single trade at a time
- Want a rules-based system with a clearly defined, fixed Risk:Reward approach rather than discretionary trade management
- Understand that automated trading carries risk and intend to monitor the EA's performance over time rather than leave it completely unattended indefinitely
Risk Disclosure
Trading foreign exchange and other leveraged instruments carries a high level of risk and may not be suitable for all investors. Past performance, whether from live trading or historical backtesting, is not indicative of future results. The value of an account using this or any automated trading system can decrease as well as increase, and it is possible to lose some or all of your invested capital. Before using LST Algo on a live account, it is strongly recommended that you test it thoroughly on a demo account, fully understand its inputs and behavior, and only trade with capital you can afford to lose. This product does not constitute financial advice, and the seller makes no guarantee of future profitability.
Support & Updates
Questions about installation, input configuration, or general use are welcome via the product's comments/support section. Please test on a demo account first and review the Experts log (with debug logging enabled) if you have questions about how a specific trade was triggered.
