Liquidity Gaps — The Imbalance Move
Liquidity gaps occur when price moves so aggressively that there isn’t enough trading activity in between levels, leaving an imbalance. This usually happens during strong institutional moves where orders are executed rapidly, skipping price levels.
These gaps are important because the market often returns to them. Why? Because institutions need to rebalance and fill remaining orders. Understanding liquidity gaps helps you anticipate where price may retrace before continuing its move — turning what looks random into something predictable.

There was a time I couldn’t sit through a quiet market. If nothing was moving, I felt like I was wasting time. So I’d force trades… random entries, weak setups, anything just to feel active. I’d tell myself, “I’ll just grab a quick one.” But those “quick ones” always turned into unnecessary losses. At the end of the day, I wasn’t tired from trading… I was tired from fighting the market.
What I didn’t understand back then is that not trading is part of trading. The best days I have now are often the ones where I do nothing for hours. I wait, I watch, and I let the market come to me. Because forcing trades doesn’t make you productive — it just makes you busy. And in trading, being busy is usually expensive.

I used to jump from one strategy to another every few weeks. The only thing that changed everything was boring consistency. One system, same rules, repeated again and again until it became automatic. That’s when things finally started to make sense.
