HalfTrend Risk Target Signals
HalfTrend Risk Target Signals is a MetaTrader 5 trend indicator that combines a HalfTrend trend engine, ATR-based volatility channels, confirmed LONG and SHORT reversal signals, and predefined Entry, Stop Loss, TP1, TP2 and TP3 reference levels for the symbol of the current chart.
The indicator works only with the chart symbol. It does not request or depend on external symbols, making it suitable for brokers that use different symbol lists or naming conventions.
How It Works
The trend engine analyzes recent High and Low prices using the selected Amplitude together with moving-average conditions and ATR-based volatility measurements.
The internal trend state has two directions:
Bullish trend
Bearish trend
The HalfTrend line changes color according to the active trend state.
LONG Signal
A LONG signal is generated when the confirmed HalfTrend state changes from bearish to bullish.
The LONG label is finalized only after the signal candle closes.
SHORT Signal
A SHORT signal is generated when the confirmed HalfTrend state changes from bullish to bearish.
The SHORT label is finalized only after the signal candle closes.
ATR Channel
The indicator calculates an upper and lower volatility channel around the HalfTrend baseline.
The volatility component is based on:
ATR(100) / 2
The Channel Deviation input controls the distance of the channel from the HalfTrend line.
Default Channel Deviation: 2.0
Risk and Target Levels
When a confirmed LONG or SHORT signal occurs, the indicator creates a structured set of reference levels.
Distance is calculated as:
ATR(100) / 2 x Base Risk
Default Base Risk: 3.0
For LONG signals:
Entry = signal candle Close
Stop Loss = Entry - Distance
TP1 = Entry + Distance
TP2 = Entry + 2 x Distance
TP3 = Entry + 3 x Distance
For SHORT signals:
Entry = signal candle Close
Stop Loss = Entry + Distance
TP1 = Entry - Distance
TP2 = Entry - 2 x Distance
TP3 = Entry - 3 x Distance
The maximum displayed target therefore represents a nominal 1:3 distance relationship between Stop Loss and TP3.
These levels are analytical references only. The indicator does not automatically open, close or manage trading positions.
Target Tracking
The indicator monitors active Take Profit levels using candle High and Low prices.
When successive targets are reached, numbered target-hit markers can be displayed on the chart.
The target sequence can show the progression through TP1, TP2 and TP3.
Performance Dashboard
The optional dashboard displays statistics generated by the indicator's internal signal and target-tracking model.
It includes:
- Win Rate
- Internal Wins and Losses
- Target R:R
- Current Trade direction
- Current Trade percentage distance from Entry
These values are internal indicator statistics. They are not broker account results, independently verified backtests or guarantees of future performance.

How to Use
First, identify the current HalfTrend direction.
A bullish HalfTrend state indicates an upward directional bias.
A bearish HalfTrend state indicates a downward directional bias.
Next, wait for a confirmed reversal signal.
A LONG signal appears when the HalfTrend state changes from bearish to bullish.
A SHORT signal appears when the HalfTrend state changes from bullish to bearish.
After a confirmed signal, review the Entry, Stop Loss, TP1, TP2 and TP3 reference levels.
The target markers can then be used to monitor how far price has progressed through the active target structure.
The indicator is intended to support chart analysis and risk planning rather than replace the trader's own confirmation and risk-management process.
Supported Markets and Symbols
The indicator contains no hard-coded trading symbol and operates on the symbol of the chart where it is attached.
It can therefore be tested on standard MetaTrader 5 instruments provided by the connected broker.
Exact behavior can vary between symbols, brokers and price histories.
Signal and Current Candle Information
LONG and SHORT signals are confirmed only after the reversal candle closes.
The currently forming candle can still affect live values including:
- HalfTrend line position
- ATR channel values
- active TP or SL interaction
- current trade percentage
These live values can change before the current candle closes.
The indicator should not be described as fully non-repainting.
Performance
The indicator uses the current chart OHLC data directly and does not require external trading symbols.
Historical calculations are performed during the initial load.
During normal operation, the indicator updates the newest chart data rather than recalculating the complete history on every tick.
The indicator does not require DLL files, WebRequest or external indicators.
Risk Management
LONG and SHORT signals and the displayed target levels do not guarantee future market direction.
Users should apply appropriate position sizing, Stop Loss discipline and risk management when incorporating the indicator into a trading method.
