Installation & Usage
1. Download the indicator from the MQL5 Market.
2. Place the `Gold Finger.ex5` file in your MT5 terminal's `MQL5/Indicators` folder.
3. Apply to any chart and adjust input parameters as needed.
4. Watch for Buy/Sell arrows; use the MTF dashboard to confirm alignment across timeframes before entering a trade.
Settings
Default Settings: This setting is already set for the most optimized and accurate signals that I have back tested.
More Accurate: Sensitivity level: Low, Lookback Period = 100, MA Filter = True, MA Period: 9 , Turn on all filters – fewer signals but higher reliability.
More Signals: Sensitivity level: Medium, Lookback Period = 14, MA Filter = True, MA Period: 9 , Turn on/off some filters this increases signals with moderate noise.
Sensitivity Level: Lower for more accurate but fewer signals. Higher for more signals but also more noise and false signals.
Lookback Period: This is the amount of candles the algorithm uses to calculate the dynamic range. Higher for more accurate, lower for more signals but more noise. (Suggested 14-200)
MA and Senkou Span B Filters: This is used to filter out which side of the trend the prices are closing at. Above the MA filter = uptrend, below = downtrend.
Instructions and Guidelines
1. News Awareness: Never enter orders one hour before or after high-impact news (check Forex Factory for red/orange folder events).
2. MA100 as Trend Filter: Use the MA100 line as a guide. If price closes above the MA100 and a green bullish arrow appears, consider a Buy order. If price is below the MA100 with a red bearish arrow, consider a Sell order.
3. Multi-Timeframe Dashboard Confluence: For trend following strategy always align trades with the higher timeframe bias shown in the dashboard. For example, if H4 and H1 show bullish signals (green), only look for Buy arrows on lower timeframes, and vice versa for Sell entries. For day trading and scalping use confluences of at least 3 timeframes that are next together for confluences. For example, if you were trading on the M15 you want the M5 M15 and M30 to have the same trend bias.
4. Price Action Confluence: Look for additional confirmation from price action patterns. A Buy arrow that coincides with a bullish engulfing candle, a bounce from a key support level, or a breakout above a resistance trendline strengthens the signal. Conversely, a Sell arrow near a resistance zone, a bearish pin bar, or a breakdown below a support level adds conviction. Combining arrow signals with classic price action setups (like support/resistance, trendlines, and candlestick patterns) increases the probability of successful trades.
5. Order Entry: You can choose to follow the signal right away and set RR to 1:1.5 or 1:2, but you may experience some drawdown. To be more conservative, split your entries into several smaller lots: enter one at the candle close, place a buy/sell limit order at the 45-50% retracement level of that candle, and another limit order at 50-60%% distance from the last swing high/low to the high/low of the candle that produced the signal. This approach accounts for typical retracements or pullbacks after breakouts, as prices often pull back 50-60% of the signal candle on higher timeframes.
6. Timeframes: Works best on M30 and higher.
7. Markets: Effective on trending markets for XAUUSD, GBPUSD, GBPJPY, EURUSD, USDJPY (e.g., forex majors, indices); test in the strategy tester on your preferred assets.
