Calmer chart context, kept practical

Northstar Flow Candles MT5 is a chart-window indicator that presents Heikin Ashi candles with a five-state trend context. It is designed for traders who want a quieter view of price while keeping the native chart available as an optional reference.

Visual-only indicator: Northstar Flow Candles MT5 does not place trades and does not send popup, push, or email notifications.

What appears on the chart

  • Five candle states: strong bullish, bullish, balanced, bearish, and strong bearish.
  • Trend context derived from fast and slow EMA alignment, ADX, and ATR-normalized candle body size.
  • Small directional arrows for major trend transitions.
  • Optional muted dots for trend-aligned pullback continuations.
  • An optional compact label showing the current context.

Clean chart by default

Focus-candle mode can hide the native candles and chart grid while the indicator is attached, leaving one unobstructed Flow Candles layer. The original chart colours and grid are restored when the indicator is removed.

Marker behaviour

  • The default uses transition-only markers to keep the chart readable.
  • Pullback confirmations are optional and use muted dots rather than large arrows.
  • Same-side marker spacing helps avoid repeated marks during one move.

Closed-bar policy: markers are calculated only after a bar has closed. Historical marker locations do not use future bars. The active Heikin Ashi candle follows live price and can change until its bar closes; this is intentional and is not a signal.

Getting started

  1. Attach the indicator to any chart and timeframe.
  2. Begin with the default EMA, ADX, and ATR settings.
  3. Use the candle context alongside market structure, spread, risk limits, and your own analysis.
  4. Select all markers only when the extra pullback context is useful to your workflow.

Main inputs

  • Fast / Slow EMA Period: defines directional context.
  • Minimum ADX: sets the directional-strength threshold.
  • Minimum Body ATR: requires a meaningful Heikin Ashi body relative to current volatility.
  • Signal Mode: chooses transition markers, pullback markers, or both.
  • Clean Chart Surface / Hide Native Candles: controls the clean visual presentation while attached.
  • Theme: selects automatic, dark, or light colours.
