Why Sentinel

Most accounts that blow up do not die from one bad trade. They die from a robot that doubles its lots against the market, adds to losing positions without a stop-loss, or carries a deep floating loss for weeks while the balance curve still looks smooth. You often find out when it is too late. Sentinel watches every EA on your account, live, and tells you what each one really does:

  • Score: a Sentinel Risk Score from 0 to 100 and a class from A (low) to D (critical) per EA
  • Why: the three heaviest reasons in plain words, such as "Confirmed martingale: lots 0.01 → 0.02 → 0.04 against the market"
  • Evidence: the actual positions behind every conclusion, with tickets, prices and lot factors
  • Limits: how much of your daily and total loss limit is already used (measured on equity), and the time left until the reset

A score you can check

The Sentinel Risk Score is built from five parts: structure (martingale, grid, averaging down) 35%, protection (stop-loss use) 20%, exposure (leverage, floating loss) 20%, asymmetry (small wins, large losses) 15% and behaviour (holding losers, larger lots after a loss) 10%. A single fatal pattern sets a hard floor, so good scores in other areas cannot hide it. With fewer than 20 positions and no fatal pattern, an EA is shown as Unrated instead of a reassuring green A. Pyramiding (adding in profit), hedges and manual trades are kept apart, so a clean EA is not flagged by mistake.

Guard: protection on your own account

  • Smart alerts: when an EA gets worse you get the reason, concrete advice and the open risk in money, as pop-up, sound or push to your phone
  • One-click actions per EA: close all, close losers, add a real stop-loss, move to break-even. Each one asks for confirmation and writes an evidence folder
  • Emergency brake at a loss limit: at the safety margin Guard closes the EA with the highest score and the largest open loss first, measures again, and only closes everything at 100%. Other robots keep running
  • Automatic stop-loss on positions that still have none after 30 seconds, at a distance based on ATR
  • Lot cap per position, and an optional close before the weekend to avoid gaps
  • Dry run is on by default — for the first week Guard only logs what it would have done

What most account protectors do not give you

  • Risk per EA, not only for the whole account
  • A targeted brake instead of "close everything", so one bad robot does not stop the good ones
  • Currency exposure across all EAs, with a note when several robots stack the same bet
  • An audit report (HTML) with a pattern map per EA, the evidence table and a verification code, plus a shareable image of the score
  • A public, versioned method instead of a black box

Built for prop-firm rules, without false promises

Set your daily loss limit (from balance, equity or the higher of both at the day start), your total limit (fixed or trailing), the reset hour and a safety margin. Sentinel measures on equity, so open positions count, and keeps the daily reference point in a local state file, so a restart of MetaTrader never resets your limit. Rules differ per firm and per challenge: always check the numbers against your own contract.

Works well with Panoptic, Pentad and ChronoReplay

Sentinel watches the risk of your robots; it does not trade. To see the context of every market at once, see Panoptic Market Dashboard. To test and trade rules with every cost included, see Pentad Multi Strategy EA. To practise trading by hand on your broker's history, see ChronoReplay. Each product works on its own.

Up and running in two minutes

  1. Drag Sentinel onto any chart of the account your EAs trade on and press OK. One chart is enough for the whole account.
  2. Read the first scores. Sentinel reads the full trading history and follows new positions live.
  3. Set your limits on the Settings tab, and leave dry run on for the first week.

Specifications

  • Type: Expert Advisor that never opens a trade; acts only on positions of this account and only on your instruction or with protections you switch on
  • Platform: MetaTrader 5 desktop; works while the terminal is open (use a VPS for 24/7)
  • Accounts: hedging and netting; any broker; read-only investor logins for the audit
  • Data: your account history and live positions only; no external feeds, no DLLs, no web requests; nothing leaves your computer
  • Files: logs, state, overview CSV, evidence folders and reports in MQL5\Files\Sentinel
  • Language: English interface and manual

Good to know

  • Demo: the free demo runs in the Strategy Tester and shows the panel, tabs and settings. The tester runs one EA at a time, so it cannot show other robots; the scores appear live once Sentinel runs on your own account. To try Sentinel on your own account, the 6-month rental is the low-cost way to start.
  • Sentinel cannot stop another EA from opening a trade; MetaTrader does not allow that. While a loss limit is hit it closes new positions again, and its advice tells you which EA to switch off.
  • Reports are saved in MQL5\Files\Sentinel\Reports. In MetaTrader choose File > Open Data Folder to find them.
  • EA names are read from the charts the EAs run on. When two EAs run on the same symbol, a name may show a question mark; the magic number is always correct.

Important

EA Sentinel describes measurable trading behaviour. It is not financial advice and a low score is no guarantee: past behaviour does not guarantee future results. Sentinel cannot prevent another EA from opening a new trade. Guard checks the account four times per second and closes positions at market, which can realise a loss; during fast news moves or weekend gaps, slippage can push a loss past a limit before any MQL5 program can act. Guard works only while MetaTrader is running and connected. Sentinel does not guarantee passing a prop-firm challenge. Use dry run first and check prop-firm rules in your own contract. Trading leveraged products carries a high risk of losing money. Questions are answered in the comments and private messages on this site.
