▬▬▬ THE PROBLEM ▬▬▬
A fixed-speed baseline makes a compromise. Set it fast — it catches trends early but produces noise in ranging markets. Set it slow — it ignores noise but misses the first part of every move.
Markets switch between trending and ranging constantly. A single speed cannot handle both.
Fabii Adaptive Trend Baseline uses five self-adjusting averages that measure market conditions on every bar and change their own speed accordingly. In a strong trend, the baseline accelerates. In noise, it slows down and holds its direction. You get fewer false flips without sacrificing speed when it matters.
▬▬▬ HOW IT WORKS ▬▬▬
An adaptive moving average sits at the centre. Around it, two deviation bands expand in volatile conditions and tighten during consolidation.
The trend flips bullish when price closes above the upper band. It flips bearish when price closes below the lower band. The baseline and candles change colour. A buy or sell arrow marks the bar.
When price pushes beyond the band in the direction of the active trend, the Momentum Confirmation Zone appears — direction and momentum aligned, visible in one glance.
Everything calculates on the closed bar. The signal does not change after the bar closes.
▬▬▬ FIVE ADAPTIVE BASELINES ▬▬▬
- KAMA (Kaufman Adaptive MA) — Measures the ratio of directional movement to total noise over the period. In a clean trend the ratio is high and KAMA moves fast. In choppy conditions the ratio drops and KAMA barely moves. The reference adaptive MA for systematic traders.
- VIDYA (Variable Index Dynamic Average, Chande) — Scales the EMA smoothing constant by the absolute value of the CMO momentum index. Strong momentum accelerates the average. Weak or conflicting momentum slows it to near-standstill. Reacts early to genuine momentum shifts.
- ALMA (Arnaud Legoux MA) — A Gaussian-weighted average with a configurable offset and sigma. The offset controls where the weight is centred across the period; sigma controls how tightly it is distributed. Combines low lag with excellent smoothness. Popular in systematic and quantitative setups.
- ADXVMA (ADX Volatility MA) — Derives a trend strength index from the directional components (similar to ADX) and normalises it against its recent range. The baseline speeds up in trending conditions and slows down in consolidation. Built for instruments where trend strength varies significantly.
- OCN NMA (Ocean Natural MA, Sloman) — A weighted average whose weights follow a natural decay based on the square root of each bar's distance. Gives strong recent bars more influence while preserving older context. Smooth output with low sensitivity to short-term spikes.
Each of the five produces the same structure — baseline, bands, zones, arrows, alerts. You choose the one that fits your instrument and trading style.
▬▬▬ MOMENTUM CONFIRMATION ZONE ▬▬▬
An adaptive baseline reduces false flips. It does not eliminate all entries where the move runs out of steam immediately after the signal.
When price closes beyond the deviation band in the direction of the active trend, the Momentum Confirmation Zone lights up. The baseline confirms the direction is genuine — the zone confirms the move has strength behind it right now. Both on the same chart, no second indicator.
▬▬▬ HOW TO USE IT ▬▬▬
- Attach the indicator to any chart. Default settings work on most pairs and timeframes.
- Select the baseline that fits your approach: KAMA for the reference adaptive behaviour, VIDYA for momentum-driven entries, ALMA for the cleanest output.
- Watch the baseline colour. Green — trend is bullish. Red — trend is bearish.
- Wait for a buy or sell arrow on bar close. That is the trend flip signal.
- When the Momentum Confirmation Zone appears in the same direction, the move has strength. That is your entry filter.

- Buy and sell arrows — appear on the bar where the trend flips. Anchored to the deviation band via ATR offset. EA-ready: buffers 19 (Buy) and 20 (Sell) accessible via iCustom.
- ALMA parameters — offset (default 0.85) and sigma (default 6.0) configurable for fine control over weighting profile.
- KAMA fast/slow constants — configurable EMA lengths that set the fastest and slowest possible adaptation speed.
- VIDYA CMO length — configurable momentum window for the Chande oscillator.
- Alerts — trend-flip (Long / Short) and band-cross (Risk-On / Risk-Off). Popup, sound and push notification. Fires once per bar on close.
- Bar limit — display the last N bars only (default 500). Clean chart, unaffected calculation.
- Any pair, any timeframe, any market.
