The Nick Rypock Trailing Reverse (NRTR) is a high-performance trend-following indicator for MetaTrader 5, designed to identify structural trend reversals with precision. Originally developed by Konstantin Kopyrkin, this indicator filters market "noise" by maintaining a dynamic distance from price extremes, allowing traders to capture significant trends while ignoring minor corrections.
Unlike traditional moving averages that lag behind price action, the NRTR stays at a fixed distance from the trend's highest high or lowest low. The trend only reverses when the price breaks through this dynamic support/resistance level.
Key Features
-
Dual Calculation Modes: Choose between the classic Percentage-based filter or a volatility-adaptive ATR-based multiplier.
-
Optimized Performance: Built with an O(n) algorithm to ensure lightning-fast calculations even on symbols with deep history.
-
Visual Clarity: Features high-visibility 3-pixel width lines (Lime for Uptrend, Red for Downtrend) and automated Signal Arrows.
-
Non-Repainting Signals: All calculations are finalized upon bar close, ensuring the signals you see on history are exactly what you get live.
-
Multi-Channel Alerts: Get notified via Terminal Alerts, Email, or Mobile Push Notifications the moment a trend reverses.
-
On-Chart Labeling: Optional "BUY" and "SELL" text labels for immediate visual recognition of entry points.
How It Works
The NRTR creates a price channel that tracks the current momentum:
-
In an Uptrend: The indicator trails the highest peak. If the price falls below the trailing support line (based on your % or ATR settings), a Sell signal is triggered.
-
In a Downtrend: The indicator trails the lowest bottom. If the price rises above the trailing resistance line, a Buy signal is triggered.
Input Parameters
-
Correction Percentage (K): The percentage distance from price extremes (Default: 2.0%).
-
Use ATR Multiplier: Toggle to switch from Percentage mode to Volatility-adaptive mode.
-
ATR Period: The lookback period for Average True Range calculations.
-
ATR Multiplier: Factor applied to the ATR value to set the trailing distance.
-
Show Signals/Labels: Customize the visual representation of trade entries.
-
Alert Settings: Enable/Disable native MetaTrader alerts and push notifications.
Trading Recommendations
-
Trailing Stops: Use the NRTR line as a dynamic Stop Loss that moves with the trend.
-
Trend Filter: Only take Long positions when the price is above the Lime line and Short positions when below the Red line.
-
Timeframes: Highly effective on H1 and H4 for swing trading, but adaptable to M5/M15 for scalping when used with a higher-period trend filter.
