Overview
Harmonic Pattern Scanner is a professional-grade indicator for MetaTrader 5 that identifies the six most reliable harmonic chart patterns in real time. Once a valid XABCD structure is confirmed, the indicator draws all five swing points, highlights the Potential Reversal Zone (PRZ) in yellow, and fires an instant alert — on screen and as a push notification to your MetaTrader mobile app.
No manual counting. No subjective interpretation. The scanner applies strict Fibonacci ratio validation for each pattern type and alerts you only when the structure meets all conditions.

Note: Avoid exotic forex pairs with very low liquidity — wider spreads reduce pattern reliability on any harmonic method.
Best Practices
- Wait for confirmation at the PRZ. When the scanner highlights a Potential Reversal Zone, do not enter immediately. Look for a reversal candle (hammer, engulfing, pin bar), a volume spike, or a signal from a supporting indicator such as RSI or MACD before committing to the trade.
- Butterfly: allow for extended D. The Butterfly pattern's CD leg can reach up to 1.618× the XA range — price may push slightly beyond the initial PRZ before reversing. Confirmation is especially important on this pattern.
- Tolerances exist because markets are not perfect. Fibonacci ratios rarely print at exact levels in live price action. The adjustable tolerances allow the scanner to capture valid patterns that fall within a realistic deviation, without forcing you to miss real setups due to rounding or spread.
- Combine with your own analysis. HarmonicScanner identifies structure and timing. The strongest trades occur when the harmonic signal aligns with support/resistance, trend context, or a complementary indicator reading.
- Not every PRZ touch requires an entry. When price reaches the PRZ, a reversal toward the target can happen quickly — or not at all. If price has already visited the zone and reversed once, a second touch may offer a cleaner entry, or you may choose to skip the setup entirely. The decision always belongs to the trader. The scanner identifies the opportunity; discretion determines whether to act on it.

Installation
01 Copy the file into MT5. In MetaTrader 5, go to File → Open Data Folder. Navigate to MQL5 → Indicators and copy HarmonicScanner.ex5 into that folder.
02 Reload the Navigator. In the Navigator panel, right-click anywhere and select Refresh. If the indicator does not appear, restart MetaTrader 5 completely and check again. The indicator will appear under Indicators → HarmonicScanner.
03 Apply to a chart. Drag HarmonicScanner onto any chart. Adjust tolerances and display options in the Inputs tab. Click OK — the scanner starts immediately.
04 Set up mobile push notifications
- Open MetaTrader 5 on yourmobile phone→ Settings → Messages → copy yourMetaQuotes ID
- On yourPC, go to Tools → Options → Notifications
- Enable push notifications and paste your MetaQuotes ID
- In the indicator inputs, set Alert = true
From this point, every time price enters a PRZ you receive an alert on screen and on your phone — no need to watch the charts.
FAQ
Does the indicator repaint?
No. A pattern is drawn only once all five XABCD swing points are fully confirmed on closed candles. The indicator never redraws or moves historical patterns.
Which symbols does it work on?
Any symbol available in your broker — forex, indices, metals, commodities, crypto, and more. Simply apply the indicator to any chart and it scans that symbol and timeframe automatically.
Can I adjust the detection sensitivity?
Yes. The Tolerance Exact and Tolerance Range inputs control how strictly the indicator validates each Fibonacci ratio. Lower values mean tighter, rarer patterns; higher values are more permissive.
Does it place trades automatically?
No. HarmonicScanner is a detection and alert tool. All entry, stop, and target decisions remain with the trader. We recommend combining the signal with your own confirmation criteria — volume, candlestick patterns, or additional indicators.
Do I need to keep MT5 open to receive mobile alerts?
Yes. MetaTrader 5 must be running on your PC for push notifications to be sent. As long as MT5 is open and connected, alerts are delivered to your mobile app even if your phone screen is off.
How many charts do I need to run it on?
One instance per chart. To scan multiple symbols, simply apply the indicator to a chart for each symbol you want to monitor. You can open several minimized chart windows simultaneously in MT5.
