EUR/USD pushed higher and briefly rose above the 1.14 mark at the beginning of the American session, amid comments about Greek debt situation.

While on the one hand, German Chancellor Angela Merkel said she was still waiting for debt proposals from the Hellenic country and expects “talks to drag on for months”, on the other hand, Greek Fin Min said he is "optimistic" on a possible agreement and said he'll meet ECB Draghi on Wednesday and German Fin Min on Thursday.

EUR/USD reacted positively to signs of negotiation between Greece and European institutions, and climbed to its highest level in a week at 1.1404. However, the euro failed to sustain gains above the psychological level and pulled back slightly. At time of writing, EUR/USD is trading at 1.1390, still up 0.45% on the day.
