The Range Breakout EA is a simple breakout strategy built around the concept of support and resistance ranges forming during a predefined time window.
The Expert Advisor monitors the market during a configurable session and identifies the highest and lowest prices reached inside the range. Once the range is completed, breakout trades can be executed whenever price moves outside of the established boundaries.
The strategy was designed to remain simple, transparent, and easy to test. The EA contains several parameters for optimization, drawdown control, and signal filtering.
Input parameters
- Base Timezone — Selects the timezone used for range calculations.
- Range Start Hour — Defines the hour when the range calculation begins
- Range Duration — Determines how long the range is formed before breakout trading starts.
- Stop Loss Percentage — Stop loss distance relative to the size of the range.
- Take Profit Percentage — Take profit distance relative to the size of the range.
- Closing Hour — Hour when open positions are force-closed.
- Closing Minute — Minute when open positions are force-closed.
- Display Range — Shows the calculated range visually on the chart.
- Candle Formation Signal — Enables additional candle confirmation before entering trades.
- Use Invalid Time Filter — Blocks new entries shortly before the configured closing time.

Risk Management
- Allocation Type: Selects how position sizing is calculation. Choose an option between balance percentage based investment and initial monetary investment. For better understanding, read this manual.
- Initial Investment: Initial allocation used for risk calculations. Either in percentage terms or in initial capital allocation.
- Allowed Drawdown: Maximum total equity drawdown allowed before trading stops.
- Allowed Daily Drawdown: Maximum daily loss allowed before trading stops for the day.
- Risk Percentage: Risk per trade as a percentage of the strategies internal equity.
- Trade Comment: Comment attached to opened positions.
- Magic Number: Unique identifier used to separate trades from other Expert Advisors.
