Candlestick Signal Alerts

Candlestick Signal Alerts is a free indicator for MetaTrader 5 that marks 13 classic candlestick patterns on the chart, each with an arrow and a short label on the bar that completes it, and can alert you when one appears.

It works on closed bars only: a mark appears when its bar has closed and never moves or disappears.

  • Piercing Line and Dark Cloud Cover

How they are recognised

  • Body, wicks and range are compared with each other and with the average body and range of the 10 bars before, so the rules adapt to any symbol and timeframe.
  • Patterns that are defined by what came before (a hammer after a decline, a hanging man after a rise, engulfing, harami, stars, piercing and dark cloud) use the trend before them: the close against its 20-period EMA.
  • A doji must have a body of at most 5% of its range and be at least half an average bar, so tiny quiet bars are not counted.
  • The labels say which pattern it is (ENG, HAM, STAR, DOJI, MSTAR, HAR, PIER, DCC...); the tooltip gives the full name.

Good to know

  • A candlestick pattern describes one to three bars. On its own it is not a reason to trade; many traders use it as one piece of context.
  • Buffers for other programs: arrows and the patterns of each bar as a bit mask.
