Gilded Reversal: Where Exhausted Momentum Turns to Gold
Gold does not reverse on a whim. It reverses when the crowd runs out of fuel.
Gilded Reversal is a semi-automatic Expert Advisor for XAUUSD. It reads the moment when a move loses its volume and a candle stops committing to a direction. That is the doji, the small-bodied candle that marks hesitation. It acts on those moments with defined risk, a full on-chart control panel, and manual override on every trade.
It is built for traders who want an EA that explains what it is doing, lets them take over at any moment, and protects the account even when they are away from the screen.
The Core Idea
Two patterns drive the engine, both measured on closed candles with tick volume:
1. Volume Exhaustion Reversal (the entry). Price closes below the trend moving average, so sellers have been in control. Then the sell-side volume drops sharply, the sign of a move running out of participants. Then a bullish candle prints on a sudden volume spike. Together these mark a shift from a fading selloff to fresh buying. Gilded Reversal opens a BUY only when all three conditions line up.
2. Doji Reversal (the exit and flip). While price sits above the trend average, the EA watches for a doji: a candle with a very small body. When the doji forms on a clear volume drop, momentum behind the uptrend is thinning. The EA closes its long positions and, in Full Auto mode, opens a SELL. If the volume drop is only moderate, you decide the response with the Gray Zone setting: continue with the trend, or send a sound alert only.
Every threshold is an input, so you can tune the strategy to your broker's volume profile and your preferred timeframe.
The Dashboard: Full Control From the Chart
Gilded Reversal loads a professional dark navy and gold panel directly on your chart.
- Bot status and ON/OFF switch. Pause or resume the EA with one click. The state is remembered when you restart the terminal.
- Panic Close All. One button closes every position on the symbol, including positions you opened manually.
- Order Management Panel. Every open position is listed with ticket, direction, lot size and live profit or loss. Trades opened by the EA are tagged (A) and manual trades (M).
- Per-order IGNORE button. Click it on any position and the EA stops managing it. It will not be auto-closed, trailed or counted toward the trade cap. Your discretionary trades stay untouched.
- Live information line. Current spread, today's profit or loss for this EA, and the number of entries taken today.
- Entry Guard status. The panel tells you why the EA is not trading, such as spread too wide, outside session, cooldown, daily loss limit or low margin level.
Risk Management Built Into the Engine
- Stops are attached after the fill. The EA opens the trade, then attaches the stop loss (and take profit, if enabled) using the real fill price. It checks these against your broker's stop and freeze levels. If attaching fails, it retries automatically instead of leaving a trade unprotected.
- Two stop modes. Use a fixed distance in points, or an ATR-based stop that adapts to current gold volatility, with your own ATR period and multiplier.
- Optional Reward:Risk take profit. Set a ratio and the target is placed as a multiple of the stop distance.
- Risk-percent position sizing. Set the percentage of equity you are willing to risk. The EA calculates the lot size from your stop distance. Or use a fixed lot.
- Automatic lot capping. Before any order, the lot is checked against free margin and the symbol's volume limit and reduced if needed. It never sends an order the account cannot afford.
- Break-even. After a set profit distance, the stop moves to entry plus an offset of your choosing.
- Trailing stop. Optional trailing with start, distance and step. Each change is checked so the EA never sends a meaningless or invalid modification.
- Hard Take Profit kill price. Set a price level and the EA closes everything on the symbol when it is reached.
Filters and Protection Layers
Each of these is optional and can be switched off.
- Session filter limits new entries to your chosen server-time window.
- Maximum spread filter blocks entries during wide-spread conditions such as rollover and news.
- Cooldown waits a set number of bars after an entry before allowing another.
- Daily entry cap limits how many trades the EA may open per day.
- Daily loss limit stops new entries once the day's loss reaches your threshold.
- Emergency floating-loss closer closes the EA's own trades if floating loss reaches your limit.
- Minimum margin level blocks new entries when margin level is too low.
- Market-open check avoids trading when quotes are stale or the symbol is closed.
Operating Modes
- Full Auto: the EA finds setups, opens trades and manages them.
- Manage Manual Only: you open the trades, and the EA applies the reversal exit logic, the dashboard and the protections to them.
- Optional Mirror Short Setup: a sell-side version of the exhaustion entry for traders who want the strategy in both directions. It is off by default.
Alerts
Optional pop-up alerts and push notifications for trade events, plus an optional sound alert for gray-zone doji signals.
Recommended Setup
- Symbol: XAUUSD (or your broker's Gold symbol). Trading is restricted to XAU symbols by default.
- Timeframe: M15, M30, H1 or H4. You can set a fixed calculation timeframe independent of the chart.
- Account: any account type. Netting and hedging are both supported.
- Broker: a low-spread environment gives the best results.
- Start small. Test on a demo account first and size positions to a risk you can afford.
