Gold Session Reversal
Gold Session Reversal is a session-based reversal Expert Advisor for XAUUSD (Gold) on the H1 timeframe, developed by AutoProfit FX. It identifies reversal patterns during high-liquidity sessions, combining candlestick pattern recognition with a directional bias filter and an asymmetric risk-reward ratio. It does not use martingale, grid, scalping, or arbitrage, and every trade carries a stop loss.
How it works
The EA trades only during specific high-liquidity session hours rather than around the clock. It detects reversal patterns with candle-body validation and uses the direction of the pre-session candle to validate entries. The take-profit is designed at a 3:1 ratio to the risk. The EA trades long and short independently to capture reversals in either direction, and holds a single position at a time.
Risk management
Risk per trade is 0.5% by default. The stop loss is based on the pre-session candle range, and the take-profit is set at three times the risk distance, giving a 1:3 risk-reward ratio. The EA trades in both directions. A stop loss is present on every trade, so the risk is always known in advance.
Backtest results
Backtested on XAUUSD H1 from 2018 to 2026, with a starting balance of 10,000 USD, using the Every Tick Based on Real Ticks model:

About the 36% win rate
The low win rate is intentional and comes from the asymmetric risk-reward design: many small losses combined with fewer but larger wins produce a positive profit factor. With a 1:3 risk-reward ratio, the system only needs to win about 25 to 30 percent of trades to be profitable, so a 36% win rate provides a comfortable margin. In practice this means more losing trades than winning ones, but the winners are significantly larger. Discipline matters: closing losing trades manually breaks the underlying math.
Key parameters
Session_StartHour and Session_EndHour set the trading window. PreSession_Start and PreSession_End define the pre-session candle used for bias detection. BodySize_Ratio sets the minimum body-to-range ratio for a valid pattern, and BodySize_MinPts sets the minimum body size in points. UseDirectionalBias enables the pre-session bias filter. Risk_TPRatio sets the take-profit multiplier, which defaults to 3:1. EnableLongs and EnableShorts control direction, and RiskPercent sets the risk per trade as a percentage of balance.
Requirements
Symbol: XAUUSD. Timeframe: H1. Account type: ECN or RAW spread preferred. Leverage: 1:100 or higher. Minimum deposit: 500 USD, with 2,000 USD or more recommended. A VPS is recommended for uninterrupted operation.
