Mattrix Basket Strength is an on-chart panel for synthetic basket charts and FX pairs.
It breaks a basket into its legs, sorts them strongest first and shows how broad the current move is - whether a currency is moving across the board or a single pair is doing the work.
WHERE IT WORKS
- The 8 currency baskets #EUR, #GBP, #AUD, #NZD, #USD, #CAD, #CHF, #JPY (7 pairs each)
- #RON / #ROFF (8 pairs) and custom # baskets with up to 8 members (stocks, indices, metals). Members are read from the synthetic symbol's description; no list to maintain.
- The 28 FX majors: the panel shows the base basket; click the header to switch to the quote basket.
- #FIX: basket position lines only.
WHAT IT SHOWS
- Basket move of the current bar (pips; percent for non-FX baskets)
- Coherence: how many legs agree, e.g. 6/7
- State: CHOPPY, MIXED, STRONG, EXTREME or DIVERGENT
- Every leg with direction and value, sorted. Legs in which the basket currency is the quote are inverted and shown reversed, e.g. EURUSD in the USD basket as (USDEUR).
- Info line: basket move in ATR units and activity (tick volume against its normal level)
- Exposure dot on legs with open positions
STATES
- CHOPPY: below about 60 % agreement
- MIXED: majority agrees, basket not aligned
- STRONG: about 85 % or more of the legs agree
- EXTREME: STRONG plus momentum beyond the extreme threshold
- DIVERGENT: the basket total points one way, the majority of legs the other
VOLATILITY-SCALED THRESHOLD A fixed pip threshold means different things on different timeframes: 60 pips over 50 bars is routine on D1 and rare on M1.
Basket Strength divides the momentum by the average ATR of the legs, so the default threshold of 6 ATR applies on every timeframe and in every unit. The fixed-value mode is still available.
ACTIVITY Tick volume of the legs compared with the same time of day on previous days (intraday) or with the 20-bar average (D1 and above). From 1.5x the state label blinks.
Tick volume depends on the broker feed; the ratio against its own history is what the panel shows.
CLICK-TO-OPEN Click a leg to open that pair's chart with your configured timeframe and template. Optionally the request is handed to AutoQuickTrade, so the new chart keeps Algo Trading enabled.
BASKET POSITION LINES (ADVANCED) Together with a compatible Expert Advisor (MATTRIX_PB_* Global Variables, matching magic number) the panel draws entry, stop loss and take profit of the running basket on the synthetic chart.
Lines are draggable; the new level is written back for the EA. Without such an EA the indicator works fully standalone.
REQUIREMENTS Basket charts are created by Mattrix Synthetic Chart (free on the MQL5 Market). On the 28 FX majors no synthetic symbol is needed.
INPUT PARAMETERS
- Broker suffix: symbol suffix if needed (e.g. ".a")
- Leg values shown in: Auto / pips / points / percent
- Momentum lookback: bars for the momentum reading (default 50)
- EXTREME judged in: ATR units (default) or fixed value
- Momentum extreme threshold (ATR units): default 6.0
- Momentum extreme threshold (fixed-unit mode): default 60
- ATR length: default 14
- Show activity / High activity from / Blink: on / 1.5x / on
- Panel X / Y offset: position from the top-right corner (default 95 / 50)
- Chart timeframe / template: used when a leg is clicked (default M15 / empty)
- Let AutoQuickTrade open the chart: default on
- EA Magic Number: for the basket position lines (default 1111)
FREE DEMO Due to MetaTrader 5 restrictions the demo runs only in the Strategy Tester and cannot show the live panel. Please refer to the screenshots or ask in the Comments section.
This indicator does not generate buy or sell signals. It shows the breadth of a basket move to support your own decisions.
