Proto1 is a high-risk, directional grid / Dollar Cost Averaging (DCA) Expert Advisor designed for traders who fully understand drawdowns, broker execution differences, and recovery-based systems.

By default, Proto1 trades in ONE direction only (BUY or SELL).
The trading direction is entirely controlled by the user.

If you do not understand directional bias, grid behavior, or broker-specific point systems — do NOT use this EA.

 Strategy Overview

Proto1 uses a directional grid / DCA logic:

• Trades ONLY ONE direction at a time (BUY or SELL)

• Direction is chosen by the user

• Each position targets a fixed take-profit in points

• Additional positions are added at a user-defined grid distance when price moves against the basket

• The basket is closed when total floating profit reaches break-even or better

• Includes an extreme-distance recovery layer with reset lot sizing for rare market conditions

• NO fixed stop-loss

Risk is managed through spacing, position limits, and basket logic — not hard stops.

CRITICAL BROKER & POINT SYSTEM NOTICE

Grid distance and take-profit values are defined in POINTS, not pips.

Point values differ between brokers and symbols.

Examples:

• A value of 800 points may represent very different price distances depending on:

  • Broker pricing model

  • Symbol digit format

  • Contract specifications

Users MUST adjust grid distance and TP settings according to their broker’s point system.
Using incorrect values can lead to excessive risk or immediate drawdown.

Proto1 does not auto-adjust for broker point differences.

What the equity curve shows:

• Strong long-term growth

• Periods of deep drawdown

• Multiple recovery cycles

• Profit achieved through mean reversion, not trend prediction

This behavior is NORMAL for grid / DCA strategies.

Important:
Large drawdowns shown in the screenshot occurred during strong, extended market trends against the selected trade direction.

USER RESPONSIBILITY & REQUIRED MANAGEMENT

Proto1 is NOT a set-and-forget Expert Advisor.

To use this EA responsibly, the user MUST:

1. Monitor Market Trend Regularly

Proto1 trades directionally (BUY or SELL only).

• If the market enters a strong trend against your chosen direction, drawdown will increase

• The EA will not automatically change direction

• The user must decide when to:

  • Pause trading

  • Close positions manually

  • Change trade direction

Failure to monitor trend conditions can result in severe drawdown or account loss.

2. Understand Drawdown Is PART of the Strategy

• Proto1 relies on price retracements

• During trends, positions can accumulate

• Recovery happens only if the market pulls back

If price does not retrace, recovery will not occur.

3. Adjust Grid Distance & TP Based on Market Conditions

• Smaller grid distance = faster growth, higher risk

• Larger grid distance = slower growth, higher survival

• Distance and TP must be adapted to:

  • Symbol volatility

  • Current trend strength

  • Broker point system

Using aggressive settings during strong trends is extremely dangerous.

4. Actively Manage During Extreme Conditions

During:

• Strong trends

• High-impact news

• High volatility sessions

Users should:

• Disable new entries

• Reduce exposure

• Avoid opening new grids

• Or stop the EA temporarily

Proto1 does NOT protect you from bad timing.

Proto1 does NOT:

• Predict market direction

• Detect trend reversals

• Protect against black swan events

• Guarantee recovery

• Automatically manage risk for you

The EA executes logic — YOU manage risk.

The screenshot shows that profits were achieved only because the account survived drawdowns and market eventually retraced.

If:

• Trend continues longer than expected

• Capital is insufficient

• Grid distance is too tight

• User ignores market conditions

The account can be fully wiped.
