Great EA in backtest! - page 100

xxDavidxSxx:
No you missunderstood. I have small profits from it. (small)

I stopped posting settings and test results because I found whats working for me. It is still in the 70+% win rate.

But I see the same problem that argorn is talking about. I see the profits are getting pulled out befor the usual 8 pips the back test show. I don't know if its cause the ea thinks the price move is slowing or what, but I have seen it take profits out at 5 pips and then wach the price continue on with out me.

You seem pretty good at adding things to the EA Argorn. Can you try to get it to be able to set a hard tp that it sticks to?

On the other hand I saw it take 12 pips profit 1 time. HUH?

Mabe its market conditions or something. I dunno.

My mistake.. But I am glad to see you still addicted to it ! lol

Aaragorn:
I seriously have considered this. I'll look into it if by no means I get distracted . Distractions abound in my world...lol I don't get much time to focus on programming really, I have to try to fit it in on the side. In my back tests I discovered that t/p on one trade all the way to 98 pips once. Actually here is the data series of t/p's that I pulled out of the results....this was from August 1 to current on the EURUSD, these are just the t/ps of the trades it made...

if we were to hardcode a t/p into it where would we set it?

another curiosity, notice that it only did t/p 5 pips 4 times in two months in the backtest yet in my live forward test it did it once already and the other trade was only 6??? something is still fishy here.

and here lies the back test inacuracies. I don't belive 70+ tp was the work of the EA rather a fluke in the test.

normal tp on a 1 hr chart I belive is suppost to be 6-15

I have seen s/l on visual in back test get moved past by 5-10 pips with out the trade being closed.

I have already had fxdd allow price to go 6 pips past s/l on 2 occations. and not durring news. I dunno if its CT or broker. I didn't say anything (yet) cause I don't want to draw attention to my account. But if it keeps happening......I will.

we'll need to be able to change the hard TP inthe settings window.(if possible)

I'd like to run tests with 15 hard TP so it makes my risk reward 1/1. then try 12 then 10 then 8.

I can put e-trailing on another chart and have s/l moved to b/e at a certian point to limmit losses but cann't back test that feature.

But with a tp of 15 I'll have s/l moved to b/e at 10 or 12 and trail every 1 pip after.

A hard TP gives lots of possible senarios.

I guess try making a new version # and take the current exit functions out. Let cyberdecitions get us in and a totaly different exit code.

oR IN SETTINGS....use cyber exit=true/false....false would activate hard TP and new exit code.

So what do we do with this EA on usd pairs? given that there is the news event at 12:15? Should we turn it off until after the event? I personally am bullish on the dollar right now...I think what I'll do is limit the EA to only go long on the usdcad and only go short on the eurusd. If I'm wrong then I won't get into any positions and it will just stay out. Despite the gap yesterday I still see the overall trends for the usd rolling over.

Aaragorn:
By all means please share the links to these other EA's or where I can download and test them. The only reason I'm hanging on here is that I don't know anything better.

Hendrick has Phoenix running which also has a thread running here:

I'm running the contest version, and its doing well, has many trades under its belt for a fair track record so far, Sashken only has 3 wins 0 loss buts its profits are on top right now, PhX is 11/2

note: I should not imply I gave up CT altogether, I havent, I just needed to get back to trading, I am still addicted to is as well, its such an interesting EA and I may very well purchase the Pro version this week just to end the drama, of everyone hucking some EA these days this one is prolly worth it. However I'll still be tinkering with CT, one thing that is cool about it is that its a pretty fair ready made template, just add your favorite signal strat and let it trade for you.

Anyhow, looks like Dave has the key settings working for him but I wonder if 70% win rate will hold up to profits, because as we've seen CT can win a 5-7 easily but then it gives back 2 big ones.

Keep us posted in a month and more Dave, I hope it continues on for you and holds that profit.

I hope you do get the pro version I want it now but have to wait as I don't have 500 just laying around this month or next. I trade only euro$ and it was a mean pair last 2 months. Just now starting to make good moves regularly.

Let us know whats different with the Pro and what I have to look forward too when I get it.

yes euro$ has sucked as well as many other pairs the last 2 months, its been a tough summer thats for sure, this stale range bound market is now starting to shake lose though. $cad and eurjpy gave me a couple nice runs and kept me afloat but thats it.

he said "daves settings"...I posted my version with my settings allover the place half a dozen times

edit: sory to be so blunt ..but one of the things bothers me in this thread is peoples lack of reading back on the previous pages and doing there own learning.

timeframe, settings, and versions are all explained over and over. And posted over and over.

Version 1.95R

Ta DA!!!

Dave allow me to feed your addiction to running the CT in the backtester. there are worse addictions. so keep those good suggestions coming as you learn please.

The R stands for 'restored'. it could be 'pr' meaning partially restored...but I didn't want to split hairs The main thing I managed to accomplish in this version is getting the take profit to work. I also shuffled the inputs order a little bit and brought the settings I'm playing with most to the top for convenience. My presets are in this EA based on the 1H chart of the EURUSD.

It appears to me from my preliminary tests that the most lucrative strategy with this involves using the trailing stop and allowing a large take profit target. I took the trailingstopfactor to 1.45 from 1. What is does is multiplies this factor by the 14 period ATR to establish the trailing stop setting. I think that's rather ingenious! it makes sense to me and it apparently reflects nicely on the bottom line.

I havn't tried to optomize for any other pairs yet. I figure as I add upgrades I can just call then version 1.95R-1 R-2 etc....

Tell me what else would you like to see done to this EA. I seem to be on a roll!! btw check out that relative drawdown now.
