A number like that should make you suspicious. It made us suspicious. So before we published it, we tried to break it. This article is what we found - the statistic and the catch, printed together, as always.
WHAT SAGA IS
A XAUUSD scalper. One position at a time. Every entry leaves the machine with a stop loss and a take profit already attached at the broker.
No grid. No martingale. No averaging. No hedging. No recovery mode.
Sixty percent of its trades close within a minute. Ninety percent within seventeen minutes.
You choose the risk with one input, the Chapter: from Prologue (about 0.4% of balance per trade) to Finale (5%). The default is Chapter III, about 1%.
THE RUN WE PUBLISHED
One Strategy Tester run. Finale chapter (the "Extreme" profile in our reports). Nothing selected after the fact.

That run produced 2,248 trades and turned $500 into $16,003,986.
Eleven years, eleven green. Best year +669%. Worst year +33%.
2,049 of the 2,248 trades closed in profit. Never more than three losses in a row.
The default chapter tells the same story at a calmer size: Chapter III turned the same $500 into $28,554 - 57 times the start, 46% a year compounded, worst equity drawdown 3.5%. Also eleven for eleven.
NOW COUNT THE STOPS
"91% win rate" is the phrase that usually hides a grid. So we counted instead of promised.
Open positions at the same time, across all 2,248 trades: never more than one.
Entry orders carrying a broker-side stop loss: 2,248 of 2,248. One hundred and eighty-seven trades ended on that stop.
Lot size after a losing trade versus the trade before: 1.00. A loss changes nothing.
You do not have to trust any of those three sentences. They are counts in the Orders and Deals tabs of the report you can generate yourself.
NOW THE CATCH - PRINTED, NOT HIDDEN
Eleven green years did not come from 128 green months. Sixteen months closed red. The worst was October 2017: -11.8%.
The worst equity drawdown was 19.9%, in 2020, on a balance of about $32,000. Finale is for a small account you are prepared to see twenty percent down on the way up. For capital you cannot replace, run Chapter III or lower.
The 91% win rate is paid for: the average losing trade is 2.6 times the size of the average winner. High win rate, bigger losers. Both numbers, always together.
From June 2022 the position size sits at the broker's 100-lot cap, so the later years grow in a straight line, not exponentially. The 32,008x is real, and it is also what a $500 start looks like with compounding at the front and a cap at the back.
WHAT IT TOOK TO BREAK IT
Re-order the 2,248 trades at random, 10,000 times: median maximum drawdown 17.7%, 95th percentile 24.9%, worst of all 44.3%. The final result does not depend on order.
Resample the trades with replacement, 10,000 times: runs that ended below the $500 start - zero.
Delete the 112 best trades: still 61x. Make every loss twice as bad: still 60x, but with a 58% drawdown.
That last line is the most useful sentence in this article. It tells you exactly where this system lives and dies: at the size of its losers.
