User Guide to Expert Advisor Settings

BTC RAZOR is an automated trading system designed for Bitcoin trading. Its settings allow users to configure the trading direction, position sizing, entry restrictions, stop-loss and take-profit management, averaging behavior, account protection, and economic-news filters.

Important: Available features and their exact behavior depend on the selected options and the EA's implementation. Test your configuration on a demo account before using it with real funds.

1. Panel & Visual Settings

These settings control the information panel displayed on the chart. They affect the user interface rather than the trading strategy itself.

  • Display the BTC RAZOR information panel — Enables or disables the EA's information panel. The panel can display trading activity, open positions, profit and loss, and other monitoring information supported by the EA.

  • Panel horizontal offset in pixels — Sets the panel's horizontal distance from its chart anchor point. Increase the value to move the panel farther horizontally.

  • Panel vertical offset in pixels — Sets the panel's vertical distance from its chart anchor point. Increase the value to move the panel farther vertically.

  • Panel width in pixels — Sets the panel's width. Increase this value if information does not fit comfortably within the panel.

  • Panel update interval in seconds — Determines how frequently the panel refreshes its displayed information. A lower value provides more frequent updates but may increase chart-object processing.

2. Strategy Configuration

These settings identify the symbols and timeframe used by the EA and determine how its trades are labeled and identified.

  • Trading symbols; empty uses the EA's configured symbol logic — Specifies the trading instrument or instruments the EA can process, according to its symbol-selection implementation. An empty value delegates symbol selection to the EA's built-in logic. Confirm the supported format before entering multiple symbols.

  • Timeframe used to evaluate trading signals — Specifies the timeframe used for signal generation. The default is H1, meaning the one-hour timeframe. The timeframe used for signal analysis may differ from the chart timeframe, depending on the EA's implementation.

  • Custom identifier attached to EA trades — Defines the text label associated with trades opened by BTC RAZOR. This can help distinguish the EA's trades in the trading terminal and account history.

  • Permitted trade direction: buy, sell, or both — Controls which trade directions are permitted. Choose buy-only, sell-only, or both directions according to the available enumeration options.

  • Magic number used to identify EA trades — Assigns a numeric identifier to the EA's trades. Use a different magic number for each independent EA configuration when necessary to prevent trade-management systems from confusing their positions.

3. Lot Sizing & Risk Allocation

These settings determine the volume used for new positions. Actual risk depends on the entry price, stop-loss distance, contract specifications, and broker conditions.

  • Method used to calculate trade volume — Selects the lot-sizing model. Available models are determined by the EA's enumeration, which may include balance-based sizing, equity-based sizing, fixed lots, or currency-based sizing.

  • Risk percentage used by percentage-based sizing — Sets the percentage used by the selected percentage-risk model. For example, 1.0 means 1%. This does not guarantee that the final loss will equal exactly 1%, particularly when execution costs, slippage, gaps, or lot-size constraints apply.

  • Fixed lot size when fixed-volume mode is selected — Sets the volume for each position when the fixed-lot model is active. The broker's minimum volume, maximum volume, and volume-step requirements still apply.

  • Reference amount for currency-based sizing — Provides the monetary reference value used by the currency-based lot-sizing model. Its precise meaning depends on the EA's calculation logic and the selected sizing mode.

  • Minimum permitted trade volume in lots — Defines the lower volume boundary applied by the EA. Ensure this is compatible with your broker's minimum volume and volume-step requirements.

  • Maximum permitted trade volume in lots — Defines the upper volume boundary applied by the EA. This setting limits volume but does not independently guarantee an acceptable level of account risk.

  • Lot reduction percentage applied after losses — Controls the percentage by which lot size is reduced following losing trades, if the EA's loss-adjustment logic is enabled. This setting is not exposed in the standard Inputs dialog in the supplied configuration.

  • Balance scaling reference for dynamic lot sizing — Provides the balance reference used by the dynamic lot-sizing calculation. The effect of changing this value depends on the EA's implementation. This setting is not exposed in the standard Inputs dialog in the supplied configuration.

4. Entry & Execution Controls

These settings restrict when new positions can be opened and how closely the EA can place trades.

  • Limit entries to one position per symbol — When enabled, restricts entries according to the EA's one-position-per-symbol logic. Confirm whether this restriction applies to all positions or only positions belonging to BTC RAZOR.

  • Minimum spacing between same-symbol entries, in pips — Specifies the minimum distance required between entries on the same instrument when the EA uses this spacing rule. This setting is not exposed in the standard Inputs dialog in the supplied configuration.

  • Allow simultaneous buy and sell positions on the same symbol — Determines whether the EA may hold opposing directions on the same instrument. Actual support also depends on the broker account's hedging or netting mode.

  • Maximum number of simultaneously open positions — Sets the maximum number of open positions permitted by the EA's position-limit logic. Verify whether the count is global, per symbol, or limited to positions managed by this EA.

  • Maximum spread permitted for new entries, in points — Prevents new entries when the spread exceeds the configured threshold, provided the EA's spread filter is active. The interpretation depends on the broker's BTCUSD quote precision and the EA's point-to-price conversion.

  • Number of bars to wait between signals; 0 disables the delay — Sets a waiting period between eligible signals, measured in candles or bars according to the EA's implementation. Zero disables this waiting restriction.

5. Trading Hours & Weekly Schedule

These settings determine the days and daily time window during which the EA is permitted to open new trades.

  • Daily start time for new trade entries — Defines the beginning of the permitted trading window, using the time format expected by the EA, normally HH.

  • Daily cutoff time for new trade entries — Defines the end of the permitted trading window. Whether equal start and stop times permit all-day trading depends on the EA's time-filter implementation.

  • Allow new trades on Monday — Enables or disables new entries on Monday.

  • Allow new trades on Tuesday — Enables or disables new entries on Tuesday.

  • Allow new trades on Wednesday — Enables or disables new entries on Wednesday.

  • Allow new trades on Thursday — Enables or disables new entries on Thursday.

  • Allow new trades on Friday — Enables or disables new entries on Friday.

  • Allow new trades on Saturday — Enables or disables new entries on Saturday.

  • Allow new trades on Sunday — Enables or disables new entries on Sunday.

BTCUSD is generally available around the clock, but broker maintenance, spreads, liquidity, and symbol trading rules can still affect execution. To allow entries every day, enable all seven weekday options and configure the daily time filter to permit the full day. These settings control the EA's entry permissions; they do not necessarily close existing positions when the entry window ends.

6. Weekend & Friday Close Settings

  • Friday closing hour (0–23); -1 disables scheduled closing — Specifies the Friday hour at which the EA's scheduled weekend-closing logic is intended to operate. A value of -1 disables this scheduled closing according to the supplied input comment. Confirm whether the EA closes all managed positions or only selected positions, and whether the hour is based on broker server time.

Because Bitcoin trades continuously, automatic Friday closing is a strategy choice rather than a universal requirement. Leaving this feature disabled may allow positions to remain open over the weekend, exposing them to changing liquidity and price movements.

7. Stop Loss & Take Profit Management

These settings control how the EA determines protective stop-loss and profit-target levels.

  • Method used to determine stop-loss and take-profit levels — Selects the method used to calculate SL and TP levels. The default is dynamic. The exact available methods and their calculations depend on the EA's enumeration and strategy logic.

  • Fixed take-profit distance in points — Sets the TP distance when the selected management method uses a fixed target. The actual price distance depends on the symbol's point size.

  • Fixed stop-loss distance in points — Sets the SL distance when the selected management method uses a fixed stop. The resulting monetary risk depends on trade volume and the BTCUSD contract specifications.

  • Take-profit multiplier for buy trades — Adjusts the take-profit calculation for buy positions through a multiplier.

  • Take-profit multiplier for sell trades — Adjusts the take-profit calculation for sell positions through a multiplier.

  • Stop-loss multiplier for buy trades — Adjusts the stop-loss calculation for buy positions through a multiplier.

  • Stop-loss multiplier for sell trades — Adjusts the stop-loss calculation for sell positions through a multiplier.

  • Additional stop-loss distance buffer — Adds an extra distance to the stop-loss calculation if supported by the selected method. Confirm the unit conversion used by the EA.

  • Additional take-profit distance buffer — Adds an extra distance to the take-profit calculation if supported by the selected method. Confirm the unit conversion used by the EA.

  • Enable maximum stop-loss distance enforcement — Enables a maximum stop-loss distance restriction if this feature is implemented by the EA. This setting is not exposed in the standard Inputs dialog in the supplied configuration.

  • Maximum permitted stop-loss distance in pips — Defines the stop-loss distance threshold used by the maximum-SL feature. The meaning of a pip on BTCUSD must be checked against the EA's conversion logic. This setting is not exposed in the standard Inputs dialog in the supplied configuration.

  • Adjust lot size when the stop-loss limit is exceeded — Controls whether the EA adjusts position volume when the stop-loss distance exceeds the configured threshold, rather than simply applying the restriction. The exact behavior depends on the implementation. This setting is not exposed in the standard Inputs dialog in the supplied configuration.

8. Averaging Strategy Configuration

Averaging adds positions as price moves against an existing position or basket, according to the EA's rules. It can increase total exposure and drawdown. Use these settings carefully.

  • Enable or disable the averaging/martingale system — Enables or disables the averaging system. When disabled, the EA should not initiate new averaging entries through this feature.

  • Method used to determine averaging entry spacing — Selects how the EA calculates the distance between averaging entries. The default is ATR-based spacing; the available choices depend on the supplied enumeration.

  • Method used to calculate the combined take-profit level — Selects how the take-profit level is determined for the averaging basket. The default is average. The precise calculation depends on the EA's implementation.

  • Take-profit distance as a percentage of the latest averaging interval — Sets the percentage of the relevant averaging distance used in the basket take-profit calculation. The effect depends on the selected TP method.

9. Averaging: Fixed Distance

  • Fixed spacing between averaging entries, in points — Defines the distance between averaging entries when fixed-distance mode is selected. The value is expressed in points according to the supplied input comment; it is not necessarily equivalent to pips or dollars of BTCUSD price movement.

10. Averaging: ATR Settings

ATR, or Average True Range, measures recent price volatility. ATR-based spacing adjusts the distance between averaging entries according to the selected timeframe's volatility readings.

  • ATR lookback period for calculating entry spacing — Sets the number of bars used by the ATR indicator. A larger period generally produces a smoother volatility estimate.

  • Multiplier applied to the ATR value — Multiplies the ATR reading to determine the distance used for averaging entries. A larger multiplier generally creates wider spacing.

  • Timeframe used to calculate ATR — Selects the timeframe from which ATR values are obtained. The current chart timeframe is used when the current-period option is selected, if supported by the EA's implementation.

11. Averaging: Basket Profit Target

These settings define when an averaging basket should be closed based on its combined profit.

  • Method used to define the basket profit target — Selects the type of basket profit target. The default is USD or percentage-based; the exact available choices depend on the EA's enumeration.

  • Basket profit target in account currency — Sets the target profit amount in the account's deposit currency when a currency-based target is selected. For example, a value of 1 represents one unit of the account currency, not necessarily one US dollar.

  • Basket profit target as a percentage of balance — Sets the target profit as a percentage of account balance when a percentage-based target is selected. A value of 0.1 represents 0.1%, if the EA interprets the value as a percentage.

12. Drawdown & Profit Protection

These settings provide account-risk controls intended to restrict trading or close positions when specified thresholds are reached.

Note: The exact scope of these protections—account-wide, symbol-specific, or limited to BTC RAZOR positions—depends on the EA's implementation.

  • Maximum permitted drawdown percentage; 0 disables the limit — Sets the drawdown threshold that activates the EA's protection logic. A value of zero disables the threshold according to the supplied input comment.

  • Close EA positions when the drawdown limit is reached — Determines whether the EA attempts to close managed positions after the drawdown threshold is reached. If disabled, the EA may restrict trading without automatically closing positions, depending on its implementation.

  • Daily profit threshold percentage for stopping new entries — Sets the daily profit threshold used to stop new trades when the configured level is reached. A value of zero disables the threshold according to the supplied input comment.

  • Close EA positions when the daily profit threshold is reached — Determines whether the EA attempts to close managed positions when the daily profit threshold is reached. This is separate from simply preventing new entries.

13. News & Event Filters

These settings control whether the EA avoids opening trades around economic calendar events, provided the EA's news filter supports the selected events and the broker's terminal provides the required calendar data.

  • Avoid trading around high-impact economic events — Enables the high-impact news filter.

  • Avoid trading around medium-impact economic events — Enables the medium-impact news filter.

  • Avoid trading around low-impact economic events — Enables the low-impact news filter.

  • Hours before an event during which new entries are blocked — Defines the pre-event restriction period.

  • Hours after an event during which new entries are blocked — Defines the post-event restriction period.

News filtering can reduce exposure to selected scheduled events, but it cannot predict all market-moving announcements or unexpected Bitcoin price movements.

Risk Disclaimer

BTC RAZOR is an automated trading tool, not a guarantee of profit. Bitcoin can experience substantial price fluctuations, widening spreads, slippage, and periods of reduced liquidity. Stop-loss orders and risk controls may not prevent losses from exceeding expectations under all market conditions.

Averaging and martingale techniques can increase exposure when the market moves against open positions. Backtest results do not guarantee future performance. Test the EA with your broker's BTCUSD symbol, contract specifications, and execution conditions before trading live capital.
