Order Block Breaker Block Zone MT4 by RWBTradeLab
A strict Order Block, and the Breaker Block that a failed one turns into. Most Order Block indicators mark any candle before a move. This one asks for five things, all mandatory, and shows you the evidence for each — with a full market structure engine built in, so the BOS or CHoCH that confirmed a block is drawn on the chart instead of having to be trusted. All from CLOSED candles only.
What Makes an Order Block Here
Five things have to happen, and all five are mandatory:
1. LIQUIDITY SWEEP — the Order Block candle takes the previous candle's low (bullish) or high (bearish)
2. IMBALANCE — that same candle is Candle 1 of a valid 3-candle FVG, so the move away from it left an unfilled gap
3. ZONE STAYS CLEAN — from the fourth candle onwards price may not trade back into the zone while it is still waiting
4. STRUCTURE BREAK — a candle CLOSES beyond the last unbroken swing level, which is either a BOS or a CHoCH
5. INSIDE THE WAIT — that break has to land within the wait window
The Order Block candle's own colour is never checked. Colour describes a candle; it is not evidence about what happened at that price.
BOS or CHoCH — Tagged, Not Graded
A block that confirms while the market was already trending the same way is tagged (BOS) and reads as continuation. One that confirms by flipping the structure is tagged (CHoCH) and reads as a reversal. Neither ranks above the other — the tag tells you what kind of trade the block belongs to, not how good it is.
The swing level that was broken is kept with the block and can be drawn, so the evidence behind the tag stays visible. The imbalance that qualified the block can be drawn too. Both are the Order Block's credentials, so both are dropped once the zone flips to a Breaker.
Zone Life Cycle
Fresh -> Mitigated -> Breaker Block
A confirmed zone starts Fresh. The first time price trades back into it the zone becomes Mitigated and is redrawn in grey — it is no longer a Fresh Order Block, but it is kept, because it is what a Breaker grows from. It becomes a Breaker Block when a candle CLOSES through its far side. A wick through does not count, and that close is the only filter on the failure.
The entry and the failure can land on the same candle. One candle that trades into the zone and closes through the other side takes the block from Fresh to Breaker in a single step.
No reaction inside the zone is asked for. In the loose definition of an Order Block a Breaker needs that second proof, because the block itself proved nothing. Here the block already had to sweep, leave a gap and break structure, and a displacement that broke structure IS the proof that orders were resting there. What traps traders is the fill on entry and the close through the far side; a reaction candle was only ever a witness to that, not the cause of it.
Market Structure
Swings are pivots: a high with Swing Left lower highs on its left and Swing Right lower highs on its right. A swing does not exist until its right-side candles have closed, which is what keeps the reading honest. Each new swing is compared with the one before it to give HH, HL, LH or LL. The reference for an upward break is the most recent swing high that has not been broken yet; once broken it is used up and the next one takes over. Breaking with the structure is a BOS, breaking against it is a CHoCH, and a CHoCH is what flips the structure state.
Both the swing labels and every structure break can be switched on, so the engine itself can be studied rather than taken on faith.
Key Features
Professional Chart Display
- Five zone kinds, each with its own switch: Bullish Order Block, Bearish Order Block, Mitigated Order Block, Bullish Breaker Block, Bearish Breaker Block
- A Breaker flips polarity — a Bullish Order Block that failed is drawn as a Bearish Breaker, and its label moves to the other side of the box
- Each zone is labelled with its own tag, "Bull OB (CHoCH)", "Bear OB (BOS)", "Bull OB mitigated", "Bullish Breaker"
- The qualifying imbalance is drawn as a dotted box sitting directly on top of a bullish zone, or directly under a bearish one
- The confirming swing is drawn as a dashed line running from the swing itself across to the candle that closed through it
- Zones can be extended to the right edge so you can see where price sits against them now. The imbalance and the confirming swing are never extended — they are history, not levels
- A Breaker's box can start at the candle that broke the zone instead of at the Order Block candle, which stops old Breakers stretching across the whole chart. The price levels are identical either way
- Display limits keep only the most recent Order Blocks and Breakers on the chart; older ones are still tracked and still counted
Summary Panel
- A compact panel in the chart corner lists all six zone kinds with how many of each are currently tracked
- Every cell is drawn as its own filled box with a thin grid line, so it reads the same on a white chart and on a black one
- A zone that is switched off, or pushed off the chart by the display limits, is still counted — the panel reports what is really being tracked
- Four corner positions, adjustable font size and colours, and it can be switched off entirely
Non-Repainting Engine
- Every rule reads CLOSED candles only. The running candle is never used
- A swing is only usable once its right-side candles have closed, which is what stops the structure reading from changing later
- The whole engine is replayed from scratch once per new bar, so the chart always shows exactly what the closed candles produced and never a leftover from an earlier state
- Automatic object cleanup — remove the indicator and the chart is spotless
Chart = Alerts, Always
- Drawing and alerts come from ONE pass over the same rules
- An alert fires exactly on the candle that produced the event — once per event, never repeated
- Whatever fires an alert is exactly what you see on the chart
Alerts (bar-close only, off by default)
- 6 alert types: Bullish and Bearish Order Block confirmed, Bullish and Bearish OB mitigated, Bullish and Bearish Breaker Block formed — each with its own On/Off switch
- 3 delivery channels: Popup, Push Notification, Email
- Every alert message includes the event, price, symbol, timeframe and time

How to Use
Attach the indicator to any symbol and any timeframe — forex, gold, indices, crypto. A Fresh Bullish Order Block is a price band where the market swept liquidity, left a gap behind it and then broke structure upward; watch it as a demand area on the first return. Read the tag to know what kind of return it is: (BOS) is continuation with the trend, (CHoCH) is a reversal setup. Once a zone turns grey it has already been tapped — it is no longer a fresh entry, it is a Breaker candidate. When a candle finally closes through the far side, the zone flips polarity and the level becomes interesting from the other direction. Turn on the swing labels and the structure breaks while you are learning the tool, then switch them off once you trust the reading. For best results combine with higher-timeframe structure and your own trade plan.
MT4 Build
This is the MetaTrader 4 build. The detection engine is the same code as the MetaTrader 5 version,
so both platforms mark the same candles on the same chart. Only what MQL4 spells differently was
changed, and none of it touches a rule:
- MetaTrader 4 has no input groups, so the settings appear as one list with comment headers instead
of collapsible sections. The order and the names are unchanged
- The bar count, the tick size and the timeframe name are read through the MQL4 functions
Everything else - the detection rules, the drawing, the summary panel, the alerts and the
non-repainting behaviour - is identical to the MetaTrader 5 version.
Important Notes
- Scan Length limits how far back new blocks are looked for. The structure engine is warmed up on a further stretch of candles before that window opens, so a block found at the edge of the window is still measured against the structure that preceded it
- Smaller Swing Left / Right values read minor structure and give many breaks; larger values read major structure and give fewer
- Push notifications require your MetaQuotes ID in MT4 (Tools -> Options -> Notifications); email alerts require SMTP settings
- Alerts work while the terminal is running
- Default colours are tuned for dark charts — all colours are fully adjustable for light themes
