Haven Currency Strength — currency strength and pair selection in one panel
Haven Currency Strength is an indicator for MetaTrader 5 that helps you identify strong and weak currencies, find pairs with a noticeable strength difference, and compare the market situation across M15, H1, and H4.
Instead of checking dozens of charts one by one, you start with the overall market picture, select a pair of interest, and then move to its history and price chart. Everything you need is combined in a compact HAVEN panel.

What Haven Currency Strength shows
| Overview | Eight major currencies — USD, EUR, GBP, JPY, CHF, AUD, CAD, and NZD — are ranked from strongest to weakest. The calculation uses a network of 28 major FX pairs without giving USD a separate privileged role. |
| Strength + Change | Strength shows the currency's current relative position, while Change shows whether it is gaining strength or losing its advantage. A strong currency may already be weakening, while a weak currency may be recovering. |
| Top Pairs | The five pairs with the largest absolute strength difference are automatically highlighted as candidates for further analysis. |
| Differential | The difference between BASE and QUOTE Strength shows which side of the pair is stronger and how large the relative separation between the currencies is. |
| Gap Change | Widening, Narrowing, and Stable show whether the strength gap between the currencies is increasing, decreasing, or remaining relatively stable. |
| MTF Context | M15, H1, and H4 are analyzed separately. Aligned shows agreement across the three horizons, while Mixed shows disagreement between them. |
| Pair Focus | BASE Strength, Differential, and QUOTE Strength are combined in one view together with the MTF context and history of the selected pair. |
| History | The Strength of both currencies and the Differential are displayed as standard MT5 lines. Each line can be enabled or disabled separately. |
From market overview to a specific pair
Overview shows the complete currency picture and the Top Pairs list. Start with the strongest and weakest currencies and select a pair of interest.
In Pair Focus, the following values are displayed side by side:
- BASE — strength of the base currency.
- DIFFERENTIAL — strength difference of the pair.
- QUOTE — strength of the quote currency.
Below them you can see M15, H1, and H4, the text-based Pair Context, and the strength history.
The history uses three lines:
- Blue — BASE Strength.
- Amber — QUOTE Strength.
- Green — Differential.
The Open Chart button opens the actual broker chart of the selected pair.
Multi-Timeframe analysis
Haven Currency Strength uses three separate calculation horizons: M15, H1, and H4.
- Aligned — all three ready periods show a sufficiently pronounced strength difference in the same direction.
- Mixed — the context is not aligned across the periods, or the difference on one of the horizons is not pronounced enough.
The timeframes are not combined into an artificial success percentage or trading score. Each one represents its own relative-strength horizon.
Current timeframe and Primary
Primary is the actual calculation timeframe used for the main ranking, Top Pairs, Pair Focus, and history.
| Calculation timeframe | Chart | Primary |
| Current | M15 | M15 |
| Current | H1 | H1 |
| Current | H4 | H4 |
| Current | Other TF, including M5 | H1 |
| Explicit M15 / H1 / H4 | Any | Selected TF |
The actual Primary is always displayed at the top of the panel. The current version does not include a separate M5 calculation timeframe.
Closed bars and history
Haven Currency Strength calculations are based on confirmed closed bars.
A historical higher-timeframe value is used only after the corresponding bar has already closed. This prevents unfinished future higher-timeframe values from being used when building historical context.
Data Quality
The indicator monitors the state of FX data and displays it directly in the panel.
| READY | The data is ready for the current analysis. |
| DEGRADED | The calculation is available, but there is a limitation in data or coverage. |
| STALE | A fresher data update is expected. |
| UNAVAILABLE | A reliable value cannot currently be obtained. |
| MARKET CLOSED | The trading session is closed, so new bars may currently be unavailable. |
Clicking the status opens Details, where you can check M15, H1, and H4, the latest closed-bar times, and the availability of FX symbols.
Working with broker symbols
Haven Currency Strength automatically detects the broker's currency pairs, including common prefixes and suffixes.
When the full set is available, the indicator uses a network of 28 major FX pairs. If part of the history is still loading, the indicator displays the corresponding Data Quality status instead of silently using incomplete data.
The overall FX Overview can also be used on a Gold chart or another instrument, as long as the broker provides the required currency pairs and historical data.
Alerts
Popup and Push notifications are disabled by default and can be enabled separately in Inputs.
- MTF Alignment Appears — M15 / H1 / H4 alignment appeared.
- MTF Alignment Ends — the alignment ended.
- Strong / Weak — a pronounced separation between a strong and weak currency appeared.
Alerts work on confirmed closed bars and do not send old events during normal startup or after changing the selected pair.
For Push notifications, MetaTrader 5 notifications must be configured in advance.

How to use Haven Currency Strength
- Open Overview and find the strongest and weakest currencies.
- Select a pair from Top Pairs or from the full list.
- Check the Differential — how strongly the two currencies are separated.
- Check Widening / Narrowing / Stable.
- Check the M15 / H1 / H4 context.
- Open Pair Focus and review the strength history.
- Click Open Chart and apply your own entry, exit, and risk-management rules.
Haven Currency Strength is designed for relative-strength analysis, pair selection, and market-context evaluation.
The indicator does not open trades, does not determine Stop Loss or Take Profit, and is not an automated trading system. A large strength difference or MTF Alignment does not guarantee continuation of price movement.
