GOLDhummingbird
GOLDhummingbird is a trend-oriented MetaTrader 5 Expert Advisor developed specifically for XAUUSD.
The EA does not attempt to chase every short-term price movement. Its internal model first evaluates whether a valid directional environment is present, then waits for a temporary pullback or repricing opportunity within that trend. A trade is considered only when direction, timing, and volatility conditions are aligned. Periods without new trades are therefore a normal part of its operation.
### Why the Research Focuses on Recent Gold Data
During the development and testing of this EA, historical backtest results for periods before 2024 were generally unsatisfactory. Therefore, GOLDhummingbird was developed and its parameters were studied primarily using market data from 2024 onward.
This difference indicates that, at least under the data and test conditions used, the strategy's performance is affected by market regime, volatility, and trading conditions and cannot be assumed to be suitable for every historical period. Using a more recent market period as the primary development sample is a deliberate strategy choice. It does not imply that future gold market conditions will remain similar and does not constitute any guarantee of future profit or performance.
### Trading Approach
GOLDhummingbird follows a “direction first, opportunity second” approach. The system evaluates market direction and the current volatility environment before waiting for an entry that meets its rules. It does not continuously chase a temporary price move or force entries simply to increase trading frequency.
The strategy does not use grid or martingale position sizing.

### Input Parameters
The EA trades the symbol of the chart to which it is attached. Attach it only to your broker's gold symbol chart.
- `LotSizingMode`: Select fixed-lot or percentage-risk sizing.
- `FixedLotSize`: Trading volume used in fixed-lot mode.
- `RiskPerTradePercent`: Account risk percentage used for each trade in risk mode.
- `BaseMagicNumber`: Base identifier used for EA order management. The default value is `2026080000`.
- `MaxSlippagePoints`: Maximum permitted slippage in points.
- `OrderComment`: Order comment. The default value is GOLDhummingbird.
- `BacktestTimeSource`: Select the time basis that matches the historical test data.
- `CustomStandardUtcOffsetHours`: Standard UTC offset, in hours, for the data source in Custom mode. For example, enter `2` for GMT+2 or `-5` for GMT-5.
- `CustomDstRule`: Daylight-saving rule used by the data source in Custom mode.
### Usage Recommendations
1. Attach the EA to your broker’s gold symbol chart.
2. Before use, test the EA in the Strategy Tester with your broker’s historical data, spread, and contract specifications.
3. Run the EA on a demo account before live deployment and begin with a risk level you can afford.
4. A stable connection or VPS is recommended to keep the EA and MetaTrader 5 running continuously.
During live and demo operation, the EA internally handles broker server-time differences. In the Strategy Tester, select the time basis that matches the historical data source.
Quotes, spreads, commissions, slippage, liquidity, contract specifications, and execution quality vary between brokers and may produce different results. Percentage-risk sizing represents a target based on the planned protective distance; gaps or slippage may cause the actual loss to exceed the calculated amount.
