Gold, September 8 with TrendCue Smart Trend: Two SELL Setups and the Decision at TP1

Why SELL was the valid direction

I use TrendCue Structure as a hard directional filter.

With bearish Structure, a confirmed SELL signal supplies timing for a short setup. Adaptive SuperTrend provides the initial risk reference in the established workflow.

The chart also contains BUY arrows. Under bearish Structure, those arrows do not qualify as long setups in this framework. A temporary rally does not change that decision after the fact.

Structure and the panel’s SELL ONLY state are separate pieces of information. Here, both point toward the short side.

In the screenshot below, follow the two yellow START/ENTRY annotations from left to right. Each has its own marked target reference.

Setup 1: TP1 creates a protection event

Start with the first annotated SELL on the left.

The setup combines bearish Structure with confirmed SELL timing. It reaches its marked TP1.

That milestone has a practical consequence. With Guardian configured for the partial-exit and break-even workflow, reaching TP1 can trigger taking part of the position off and moving protection on the remainder to entry.

A move does not have to become an extended trend before the management plan has something useful to do.

The sequence is:

TP1 reached → partial profit-taking can trigger → the remaining position can receive break-even protection.

This describes the management logic. The screenshot records chart development and annotations; it does not show broker fills or a Guardian execution log.

The outcome being discussed here is the TP1 event, without assigning an unsupported final exit to the remainder.

What protection changes

Before TP1, the position is working toward its first management milestone.

After TP1, the configured rules can change both the amount left open and the stop reference for that remainder. Part of the position can be secured while the rest remains available for further price movement.

There is a trade-off. Moving protection to entry can close the remainder during a retracement, even if Gold later resumes the original direction. Giving the position more room leaves more exposure.

That choice belongs in the management plan before the next candles make one approach look obvious.

Guardian’s role is to apply the chosen rules when their conditions are met.

Setup 2: TP1, followed by further bearish movement

Now move to the second yellow START/ENTRY annotation near the middle-right of the chart.

The directional requirement is unchanged: bearish Structure and confirmed SELL timing. This setup also reaches its marked TP1.

Price then continues lower toward the right edge of the screenshot.

Under the Guardian workflow, any remaining position continues to be managed according to the configured rules. Further bearish movement gives that remainder room to develop, subject to those rules.

The visible continuation does not establish how much of it a managed position captured. There is no basis here for assigning an exact realised return or an additional target fill.

What the chart supports is the progression: a valid short setup, TP1 reached, and further movement in the bearish direction.

The same discipline behind the earlier reviews

The original 17-trade review was a simulator study with written rules and a complete record, including losses and break-even outcomes. It also documented why having a management rule and applying it on time are separate challenges.

The September 3–4 review continued the Structure filter discipline, including signals that did not qualify.

This September 8 follow-up is a separate chart review of two annotated setups. It carries forward the same decision order:

Structure defines direction → the confirmed signal provides timing → Adaptive SuperTrend supplies the initial risk reference → Guardian manages the position after entry.

Each step answers a different trading problem. Direction alone cannot specify an entry, and a valid entry cannot decide how to handle the remainder after TP1.
