Universal Trend Intelligence — Advanced Multi-Factor Market Analysis
Universal Trend Intelligence (v1.0) is a professional, multi-factor custom indicator for MetaTrader 5. It is designed to assist traders in analyzing current market trend direction, analytical trend strength, and prevailing market regimes. By consolidating multiple established technical metrics into a single, clean interface, this indicator provides a structured, objective approach to chart analysis without cluttering your workspace.
Selective Multi-Factor Confirmation: The indicator is designed to filter weaker market conditions and generate signals only when multiple analytical conditions align.
Why Universal Trend Intelligence?
Relying on a single indicator can often provide an incomplete picture of market conditions. Universal Trend Intelligence addresses this by aggregating five distinct technical measurements into one unified system. It does the heavy lifting of multi-factor analysis, instantly providing you with a weighted visual summary of the current market state.
How the Trend Score & Multi-Factor Analysis Works
At the core of the indicator is the Trend Score, which evaluates the market from 0% to 100%. This score represents the internal weighted analytical strength of the current trend, calculated using the following default components:
- Trend / EMA Alignment (25%): Measures directional alignment across Fast (20), Medium (50), and Slow (200) Exponential Moving Averages.
- ADX Strength (20%): Evaluates directional movement and trend momentum.
- MACD Momentum (20%): Analyzes the relationship between the MACD main line and its signal line.
- Fractal Structure (20%): Scans for established market structure, including Higher Highs/Higher Lows or Lower Highs/Lower Lows.
- RSI Momentum (15%): Measures relative strength against the neutral RSI baseline.
Note: The default signal threshold of 75% represents the required analytical confluence to generate a signal. It does not represent a 75% win rate, nor does it guarantee a 75% probability of a profitable price movement.
What Does the Signal Threshold Mean?
Signal Threshold defines the minimum Trend Score required before the indicator can generate a BUY or SELL signal.
The default Signal Threshold is 75%.
- Below 75%: The Trend Score has not reached the required signal level, so the indicator remains in a waiting state.
- 75% or higher: The setup becomes eligible for further signal confirmation.
Reaching the Signal Threshold alone does not automatically generate a BUY or SELL arrow. The market regime, directional bias and Higher-Timeframe confirmation must also satisfy the required conditions.
Important: A 75% Trend Score does not mean a 75% win rate or a 75% probability of profit. It is simply the internal analytical threshold used by the indicator before a signal can be considered.
Market Regime / Kaufman ER Filter
To help filter out low-efficiency market conditions, the indicator utilizes the Kaufman Efficiency Ratio (ER). This measures the efficiency of recent price movement and classifies the market as either TRENDING or CHOPPY.
- When the ER value is at or above the configured threshold, the market can be classified as TRENDING.
- When the ER value falls below the configured threshold, the indicator identifies a CHOPPY regime and can block standard trend signals.
The default minimum efficiency threshold is 0.35.
This feature acts as a mathematical filter based on recent price action. It classifies current market conditions but is not a predictive tool.
Higher-Timeframe Confirmation
Universal Trend Intelligence includes an optional Higher-Timeframe (HTF) Trend Filter, with H1 as the default timeframe.
The HTF filter evaluates EMA alignment on the selected higher timeframe to determine whether the current directional bias agrees with the broader timeframe direction.
- Bullish setup + HTF BULLISH: BUY conditions can receive higher-timeframe confirmation.
- Bullish setup + HTF BEARISH: BUY conditions can be rejected as an HTF mismatch.
- Bearish setup + HTF BEARISH: SELL conditions can receive higher-timeframe confirmation.
- Bearish setup + HTF BULLISH: SELL conditions can be rejected as an HTF mismatch.
Higher-Timeframe confirmation provides additional market context but is not a guarantee of future price continuation.
How a BUY or SELL Signal Is Confirmed
The indicator uses multiple conditions before displaying a signal arrow. Reaching the Trend Score threshold alone is not sufficient.
BUY signal conditions:
- Trend Score reaches the configured Signal Threshold.
- Market is not classified as CHOPPY when the regime filter is enabled.
- The calculated directional bias is bullish.
- The Higher-Timeframe filter is disabled or confirms a bullish direction.
- The signal is evaluated on a confirmed closed candle.
SELL signal conditions:
- Trend Score reaches the configured Signal Threshold.
- Market is not classified as CHOPPY when the regime filter is enabled.
- The calculated directional bias is bearish.
- The Higher-Timeframe filter is disabled or confirms a bearish direction.
- The signal is evaluated on a confirmed closed candle.
This means the indicator is designed as a multi-condition confirmation system, rather than a single-indicator signal generator.
Selective Multi-Factor Confirmation: Signals are generated only when the required trend direction, market regime, Trend Score, and Higher-Timeframe conditions align.
Understanding the Current Signal Status
The dashboard helps explain why a BUY or SELL arrow may or may not appear:
- BUY: Required bullish conditions are confirmed.
- SELL: Required bearish conditions are confirmed.
- WAITING: The Trend Score has not reached the configured Signal Threshold.
- BLOCKED: The market is classified as CHOPPY by the enabled regime filter.
- HTF MISMATCH: The current directional bias does not agree with the Higher-Timeframe direction.
This provides additional transparency instead of simply displaying BUY and SELL arrows without showing the current market condition.

The indicator features a clean, compact on-chart dashboard that displays the most important information without unnecessary chart clutter:
- Market/Symbol
- Current Timeframe
- Market Regime — TRENDING / CHOPPY with ER value
- HTF Trend — BULLISH / BEARISH / NEUTRAL
- Trend Score — Current analytical score
- Signal Threshold — Minimum score required for signal eligibility
- Current Signal — BUY / SELL / WAITING / BLOCKED / HTF MISMATCH
BUY & SELL Signals
When all required confirmation conditions are satisfied on a confirmed closed candle, the indicator displays clear visual signals directly on the chart:
- Green Up Arrow: Confirmed BUY condition.
- Red Down Arrow: Confirmed SELL condition.
The indicator is an analysis and signal indicator only. It does not open, modify or close trading positions.
Alerts & Notifications
Stay informed without constantly watching the charts. Universal Trend Intelligence supports optional, user-controlled alerts for confirmed BUY/SELL signals:
- Popup Alerts: Receive an alert directly in MT5.
- Push Notifications: Receive signal notifications on your configured MT5 mobile device.
- Sound Alerts: Receive an audible notification when a confirmed signal is detected.
Each alert type can be independently enabled or disabled from the indicator settings.
Note: Push notifications require the user's MT5 notification settings and MetaQuotes ID to be properly configured.
Closed-Candle / Non-Repainting Logic
Universal Trend Intelligence is designed to evaluate signal conditions using confirmed closed-bar data rather than the currently forming candle.
This helps prevent signals from being generated from incomplete candle information. Historical BUY and SELL arrows are associated with the closed candle on which the qualifying conditions were detected.

Universal Trend Intelligence is designed as a general-purpose analytical tool that can be applied to symbols supported by your MT5 broker, including:

The indicator can be used across different MT5 timeframes.
Signal frequency and behavior will naturally vary depending on the selected symbol, timeframe, broker pricing, liquidity and market volatility.

A practical workflow is:
- Check the Market Regime.
- Review the Trend Score.
- Compare the score with the Signal Threshold.
- Check the Higher-Timeframe Trend.
- Wait for a confirmed BUY or SELL signal when the required conditions align.
- Apply your own entry, position-sizing and risk-management rules.
Do not rely on any single indicator or signal as the sole basis for a trading decision.
