HalfTrend X

HalfTrend is a clean, easy-to-read trend indicator for MetaTrader 5. It draws a single line that changes colour with the market direction, so you can see the trend at a glance.

How it works
The indicator tracks recent highs and lows over a short window and flips the trend when price breaks the opposite side with confirmation. The result is a smooth line that follows the trend and also works as a dynamic support/resistance level or trailing stop guide.

Signals

• Buy: the line turns blue and a buy arrow appears.
• Sell: the line turns red and a sell arrow appears.
• Signals on closed bars do not change. The live bar can still change until it closes, so waiting for the close is recommended.

Settings

• Amplitude: sensitivity of the trend detection (lower = faster, higher = smoother)
• Channel Deviation: width of the ATR channels
• ATR Period: volatility calculation length
• Show Arrows / Show Channels: turn the visuals on or off
• Alerts: pop-up alert on new signals

How to use it
Use it as a trend filter, a signal confirmation tool or a trailing-stop reference. It works best together with your own analysis, such as support/resistance, higher-timeframe trend or a strength indicator like ADX. In sideways markets any trend indicator can give frequent signals, so raise Amplitude or use a higher timeframe to reduce noise.
