Volume Profile POC Breakout

Volume Profile POC Breakout builds a volume profile from recent candles, finds the Point of Control (POC) and marks clean breakouts of that level. Each breakout is shown as a complete trade plan with entry, stop loss and three take profit levels, filtered by the higher timeframe trend and rated by a quality score.

The indicator does not open trades. It is a visual and analysis tool.

How it works

  • A volume profile is built from the last N candles (default 150 bars, 24 rows, 70% value area). The row with the most volume is the POC.
  • A breakout happens when one candle closes on one side of the POC and the next candle closes on the other side. The POC is taken from the profile before the breakout candle, so a moving POC cannot create a false signal.
  • Signals are checked on closed candles only.
  • Optional higher timeframe trend filter based on market structure (BOS / CHoCH, close based). Bullish trend = buy setups only, bearish trend = sell setups only.

Trade plan for every setup

  • Entry type: market entry on the breakout candle, or a limit order at the POC (retest) with an optional time limit.
  • Stop loss modes: last swing, highest high / lowest low since the POC cross, or ATR distance from the POC.
  • Three take profit levels set by risk-to-reward ratio, with optional breakeven after TP1 and stop to TP1 after TP2.
  • Limit of setups per POC level, so the same level is not traded again and again.

Quality score

Each setup gets a score from 0 to 100, shown as 1 to 5 stars. The score looks at trend direction, POC quality, breakout candle strength, room to the targets and price action confluence (liquidity sweep, BOS / CHoCH, FVG, IFVG and BPR). A minimum score filter hides weaker setups.

On the chart

  • Live volume profile on the right edge of the chart with the POC line.
  • Trade boxes with see-through profit and loss zones, entry, SL and TP lines and price tags.
  • Results panel with total R, win rate, profit factor, wins / losses, average R, maximum drawdown and a table by star rating. The panel can be moved anywhere on the chart.
  • Colors adjust automatically to light and dark chart backgrounds.

Alerts

Popup, sound, push notification and email alerts for new setups, limit fills and cancellations, take profit hits and stop loss hits.

Main settings

  • Volume Profile: number of bars, row count, value area percent.
  • Trend filter: on / off, timeframe, swing length.
  • Score: minimum score, lookback and swing length for price action checks.
  • Entries, Stop Loss, Take Profit: entry type, stop loss mode, R:R for TP1 to TP3, stop loss management.
  • Display and Alerts: setup profile style, price tags, results panel, alert channels.

Notes

  • Works on any symbol and timeframe.
  • Volume profile uses tick volume, so results can differ slightly between brokers.
  • The results panel shows a simulation on past data with a fixed spread. It is not a real trading result and does not guarantee future performance.
