Ronin Shield - Daily Loss Limiter & Account Guard (MT5)
When your loss limit is hit, your trading day is over.
A utility built to stop the "just one more trade" moment during prop firm challenges.
Attach it to just one chart and it protects the whole account: every symbol and every position, including manual trades and other EAs.
No need to open a chart for each symbol.
No external DLLs. No web requests.
==============================
THREE PROTECTION LINES
==============================
1. Daily Loss Limit
Tracks P/L since broker server time 00:00 (closed P/L + floating P/L).
2. Daily Profit Lock
Ends the trading day once your daily target is reached, so you keep what you made.
3. Total Drawdown Limit
Static (from the initial balance) or Trailing (follows the highest equity reached).
All limits can be set as a money amount or a percentage.
Percentages are calculated on the INITIAL BALANCE, not on the start-of-day balance.
The initial balance is auto-detected (0) or can be entered manually.
For prop firm use, entering your challenge's starting balance manually is recommended.
==============================
WHAT HAPPENS ON LOCK
==============================
- All open positions are closed at market and all pending orders are deleted.
- Positions are closed one by one (about 1 second per position, measured on a demo account).
- Any new order filled during a lock is detected after it fills and closed (usually within 1-2 seconds, depending on broker execution speed).
- A lockdown banner is shown in the center of the chart, with sound and push notifications (can be switched on/off).
- The lock state survives MT5 restarts and timeframe changes.
==============================
RELEASING A LOCK
==============================
- Daily loss / daily profit locks: released automatically at the next server time 00:00. There is no way to release them earlier.
- Total drawdown lock: NOT released automatically. Set "Reset saved state" to true in the inputs and press OK to release it;
the initial balance and peak equity are re-detected. Set it back to false afterwards.
- If both the daily loss limit and the total drawdown limit are reached, the lock is treated as a total drawdown lock.
- "TEST MODE" is for verification on demo accounts. When ON, the reset also releases daily locks. Keep it OFF on live accounts.
==============================
HOW IT MONITORS
==============================
Three independent triggers: a 250 ms timer, incoming ticks, and trade events.
Checks keep running even when the market is quiet.
==============================
HUD
==============================
Status (NORMAL / WARNING / LOCKED), today's net P/L, remaining loss buffer, distance to the total drawdown limit,
profit target remaining, server time, and countdown to the daily reset.
Press [H] to show or hide. Position, font size and theme can be changed.
==============================
ONE CHART PROTECTS THE WHOLE ACCOUNT
==============================
Shield monitors the P/L and positions of the entire account, so a single chart is all you need.
All symbols on the account are protected, whichever symbol the chart shows.
There is no need to run a second Shield on the same account.
If you attach it to several charts, the instances share the lock state and the initial balance, so instances with different settings
can interfere and trigger unexpected locks. Keep it to one Shield per account.
==============================
USING IT ON MULTIPLE ACCOUNTS
==============================
MQL5 Market licenses are per computer. On the same PC (or VPS) you can use it on several accounts and terminals without extra activations.
One MT5 terminal handles one account, so run one terminal per account and attach one Shield to each.
Lock state and initial balance are managed separately for each account.
==============================
SETUP
==============================
1. In the MT5 terminal of the account you want to protect, attach Shield to any one chart. That alone protects the whole account.
2. Enable Algo Trading in MT5.
3. Set Limit mode, Daily loss limit, Total account DD limit, Initial balance and other inputs.
4. Keep MT5 running and trade as usual.
==============================
IMPORTANT LIMITATIONS - PLEASE READ
==============================
- MT5 does not allow blocking an order before it is sent.
Orders placed during a lock are closed after they fill, so spread, commission and slippage costs will apply.
Measured example on a demo account: about $0.25 per forced close of 0.01 lot of gold (XAUUSD). Costs scale roughly with lot size.
- Closing all positions takes time after a lock is triggered. With more positions or larger lots, price movement during that time
can push your loss beyond the limit you set. The same applies to fast markets, gaps, disconnections and rejected orders.
Set your limits with a safety margin below your prop firm's actual limits.
- Protection works only while MT5 is running with Algo Trading enabled. If your PC is off, your account is not protected.
A VPS is recommended for continuous operation.
- The trading day is based on broker server time 00:00.
Your prop firm may use a different reset time or a different calculation method (e.g. balance vs. equity). Always check your firm's rules.
The "RESET IN" field on the HUD shows the time to the next reset.
- Testing was done on a hedging demo account (Exness). Before buying, please verify behavior on a demo account,
especially if you use a netting account or another broker.
