Here is the sad but honest truth about institutional high frequency trading (HFT).
I watched this documentary, real eye opener.
What kills me though is when I see retail traders soliciting HFT algorithms😂😂 It cracks me up because even if you try and explain that colocation is the most essential part of HFT, it goes over their heads.
I think a more meaningful name could be "Execution Latency Arbitrage", that could really make what's going on here, clear for most non-technical people
