Check an MQL5 signal before you subscribe.
A signal can look convincing on the provider page and still be a poor fit for your account. Different symbol names, minimum lots, leverage, hedging or netting, copy latency and a fixed monthly fee can materially change what happens on your account.
MT5 Signal Sentinel is not a trading robot and not a signal. It does not trade. It analyzes available data and explains technical and historical risks in plain language.
Why this tool was created
Many problems only become visible after a signal subscription has started:
- Not every trade is copied.
- The copied lot size is smaller or different than expected.
- The signal works on the provider account but not on the subscriber account.
- A market is missing at the subscriber's broker or uses another symbol name.
- The broker's minimum lot is too large for a small account.
- A hedging signal is copied to a netting account.
- The fixed monthly fee consumes a large part of the historical result.
- A fast scalper is affected by ping and execution delay.
Sentinel makes these issues visible before subscribing, wherever they can be determined from the available data.
Two separate ratings
Signal risk: How has the signal actually traded so far?
Account fit: Can the currently connected MT5 account copy this signal in a technically suitable way?
The results are shown separately. A historically unremarkable signal can still be unsuitable for your account. A technically compatible account does not make a risky signal safe.
What Sentinel checks
- Signal structure: trade count, profit factor, win rate, drawdown, deposit load, holding time, parallel positions and the concentration of profits or losses.
- Grid and recovery: repeated additions against the market, open loss baskets, increasing lots and martingale-like sequences.
- Account fit: your balance, account currency, leverage, free margin, open positions and pending orders.
- Hedging or netting: a warning when the history needs simultaneous buy and sell positions in the same market but the subscriber account cannot keep them separate.
- Broker symbols: exact names, suffixes, missing markets and ambiguous mappings such as different broker names for indices or cryptocurrencies.
- Copy size: a technical estimate of the MQL5 copying ratio and a guide balance for approximately 100 percent signal size.
- Minimum lot: a warning when the broker's smallest permitted position may override proportional scaling on a small account.
- Swap: analysis of historical swap costs and classification using the current conditions of the subscriber's broker.
- Copy quality: classification of ping and actual holding time; a fast scalper is rated more strictly than a multi-day swing signal.
Monthly signal fee versus historical result
A high growth percentage alone does not show whether the fixed signal fee makes economic sense for a particular account.
Sentinel compares the monthly signal fee with the historical average monthly profit before the fee at full signal size. Monetary values from other provider account currencies are also shown as understandable USD guide values.
The report clearly shows whether the fee has historically been well below the result, consumed a large part of it or exceeded that profit.
This calculation is a historical classification based on the available CSV period. It is not an expected return and not a forecast.
Before subscribing: signal and account analysis
- Attach Sentinel to any MT5 chart.
- Enter a signal ID, full MQL5 signal link or signal name.
- Load the public overview and save the prepared signal locally.
- Download the official positions CSV in your browser.
- Select the CSV through the MT5 folder displayed by Sentinel.
- Review signal risk, account fit, fee, symbols and copy quality in the report.
Later CSV snapshots can be imported and compared with the previous report. The original CSV, report and comparison snapshots remain stored locally in the shared MT5 file area.
After subscribing: Copy Check
The read-only Copy Check verifies the actual MT5 status. It shows, among other items:
- whether MT5 is connected to the broker and the MQL5 account is signed in,
- whether a signal subscription is active on this trading account,
- whether signal copying is enabled,
- which copy size is selected,
- whether Stop Loss and Take Profit are configured to be copied,
- whether synchronization and continuous operation appear ready.
Sentinel never changes an MT5 setting automatically and never opens, closes or modifies a position.
Data and privacy
The deep check uses the official MQL5 positions CSV selected by the user. The analysis needs no DLL and no external Sentinel server.
For the optional retrieval of public MQL5 overview data, the MQL5 addresses shown inside the program must be allowed for WebRequest under Tools, Options, Expert Advisors. The CSV deep check remains available without this optional request.
Strategy Tester demo
The Market demo does not show only an ideal case. In the MT5 Strategy Tester, a fully synthetic tour covers eleven typical good and bad cases, including minimum lot, missing symbols, high fees, grid, recovery, swap, a hedging signal on a netting account, short history, incomplete copy settings and poor copy quality for a fast scalper.
The demo reads no real signal files or account data, writes no customer files and performs no internet requests. All displayed values are fictional.
Important limitations
- Sentinel evaluates a downloaded snapshot and does not monitor the signal provider live.
- The MQL5 positions CSV may contain new, current or hidden trades with a delay or not at all.
- The CSV does not contain reliable original Stop Loss and Take Profit fields.
- Grid, recovery and martingale warnings describe detected trading structures and do not claim to know the provider's intention.
- Copying ratio, guide balance and margin are technical estimates. Broker rules, contract sizes, prices, slippage and symbol mapping can change real execution.
- A green status means unremarkable so far or technically compatible, never safe or profitable in the future.
Clear product scope
MT5 Signal Sentinel is a read-only analysis and verification tool. It does not trade, copy trades itself, subscribe to a signal or modify orders or MT5 signal settings.
The product is not investment advice, not a recommendation to purchase a signal and not a guarantee of complete or identical copying. Historical results, reports and traffic-light colors are not forecasts of future results.
Trading leveraged financial instruments can result in a partial or complete loss of the capital used. The user remains responsible for the signal subscription, copy size, account allocation and risk.
