PatternEngine is an MT4 Expert Advisor built to automatically recognize the most widely used chart patterns in technical analysis, and trade their confirmed breakouts using a disciplined risk-management framework.

Patterns detected (13 types)

• Double Top / Double Bottom
• Head & Shoulders / Inverse Head & Shoulders
• Rectangle (with 2 independent strategies: Fade and Breakout)
• Symmetrical, Ascending, and Descending Triangle
• Rising Wedge / Falling Wedge
• Flag and Pennant
• Expansion (Broadening Wedge)

Detection engine

• Fractal-based swing detection with a configurable minimum-amplitude filter (ZigZag-style deviation approach) to filter out noise-driven false signals
• Confirmation queue: most patterns require a genuine close beyond the breakout level before a position opens, and are invalidated if price retests the opposite structural level first
• Trend-alignment filter (ADX + ATR): patterns are only traded in the direction of the prevailing trend, with an optional range-trading allowance
• Minimum size and time-width filters for the Rectangle pattern, preventing a simple price spike from being mistaken for genuine consolidation

Risk management and execution

• Position sizing based on % risk of account equity (not fixed lots)
• SL/TP computed from the pattern's own geometry (measured move)
• Configurable minimum risk:reward ratio
• Breakeven management + ATR-based trailing stop
• Maximum spread and maximum slippage guards
• Independent enable/disable for detection vs. trading, per pattern type

Adaptive intelligence (per-pattern scoring) A statistical confidence system computes, for each pattern type, the lower bound of the Wilson confidence interval over a rolling window of recent trades — a far more robust method than a raw win rate, protecting against false confidence on small samples. Depending on the confidence tier reached, the size of the next trade on that pattern is scaled up or down, always subject to an absolute global risk cap that can never be exceeded.

Full visual dashboard

• Collapsible main panel: status, market info, structure (support/resistance, slopes, channel state), trend analysis, trading status, legend
• Additional panels: latest signals, signal rejection reasons, per-pattern performance statistics, overall performance summary
• Bilingual French/English (a single setting switches the entire dashboard, trade messages, and on-chart annotations)
• Visual annotations drawn directly on the chart for every detected pattern

Compatibility Works on any symbol and any timeframe, since detection is based on generic price-swing structure rather than instrument-specific hardcoded parameters.
