Smart Imbalance Edge: Decode Institutional Footprints and Market Momentum
The market doesn't move randomly. Its direction and structural shifts are driven by major players—institutional capital, banks, and hedge funds. Smart Imbalance Edge is an advanced, analytical MetaTrader 5 tool designed to help you spot these institutional footprints and measure the true force behind their actions.
This isn't just another standard "ZigZag" indicator that blindly connects highs and lows. This algorithm scans the micro-structure of the market for V/A-shaped reversals, evaluating the kinetic force of price action. It shows you not just where a bounce happened, but how aggressively the big players stepped in to buy or sell.
💡 Core Value: See Institutional Momentum Often, the market chops around slowly until a sudden, aggressive price spike occurs—this is where heavy capital enters. Smart Imbalance Edge automatically calculates the speed of these impulsive moves and compares them to the background market noise.
-
If the reversal was slow and weak: The algorithm rejects it, knowing there is no real institutional interest.
-
If the reversal was aggressive and forceful: The indicator locks it in and displays the exact "Force Score" right on your chart.
-
(New) Environmental Dominance (*): If you see an asterisk ( * ) next to the Force Score, it means the impulsive move was so strong it completely dominated the surrounding background market volatility, marking a highly significant institutional shift.
🔥 Key Features
-
Institutional Footprint Detector (ATR Imbalance Runs): Automatically identifies and highlights aggressive, single-direction price rallies that exceed the Daily (D1) ATR. These are the exact zones where major players aggressively absorbed liquidity.
-
Kinetic Force Calculation: Every valid pattern is assigned a unique "Force Score". You will always know whether the buyers pushed the price up twice or three times as fast compared to the preceding period of consolidation.
-
Adaptive Statistical Volatility Filter: Forget hardcoded manual settings. The algorithm uses mathematical variance to autonomously understand when the market is flat and when it is volatile. It filters out the noise and leaves only statistically significant, high-momentum reversals.
-
Dual-Engine Scanner: The indicator simultaneously analyzes your main timeframe (e.g., H1) and a lower timeframe (e.g., M30). This allows you to spot structural shifts and interventions much earlier than waiting for the larger candle to close.
-
M1 Micro-Structure Precision: To prevent false signals, the engine drills down into the 1-minute (M1) chart to verify the chronological sequence of price action inside a single candle. It ensures that a high or low formed exactly when it was supposed to, rather than being a random price spike.
-
Advanced Noise Reduction (Wick & Size Filters): New built-in filters ignore "choppy" pushes with excessive opposing wicks and discard tiny micro-structures that don't meet minimum ATR requirements.
Who is this indicator for? Smart Imbalance Edge is an indispensable tool for Price Action and Smart Money Concepts (SMC) traders. If your strategy relies on liquidity sweeps, Order Blocks, or Fair Value Gaps (FVG)—this indicator will show you exactly which of those zones are being defended with real institutional force.
Stop guessing where the big players are hiding. Measure their force and trade alongside them.
⚙️ Indicator Settings & Parameters Guide
--- V-PATTERN SETTINGS ---
-
Scan Mode (Dual-Engine): Choose how the indicator analyzes the chart.
-
Current TF Only (Main TF): Scans only the timeframe currently open on your chart.
-
Lower TF Only: Automatically calculates and scans a lower timeframe (e.g., M30 if you are on H1) to find earlier entries and hidden micro-structures.
-
Scan BOTH (Dual-Engine): Runs both the main and lower timeframe algorithms simultaneously.
-
-
Main Timeframe: The primary timeframe you are basing your analysis on.
-
Force Index Threshold: The minimum required momentum score for a reversal to be considered valid. For example, 1.8 means the reversal leg must be at least 1.8 times faster/stronger than the preceding move. Increase this value to filter out weaker setups.
-
Show Failed Patterns?: If set to true, the indicator will draw setups that had the correct structure but failed to meet your required Force Index Threshold (drawn in darker/gray colors).
-
Use FVG (Fair Value Gap) Multiplier?: If true, the algorithm checks the reversal leg for Fair Value Gaps. High FVG density acts as a multiplier, boosting the final momentum score of the pattern, as FVGs are strong signs of institutional displacement.
--- MICRO-STRUCTURE FILTERS ---
-
Keep Only Strongest Overlapping Pattern: When multiple valid V-patterns form in the exact same time window, setting this to true will hide the weaker ones and display only the pattern with the absolute highest momentum score. Keeps your chart clean.
-
Max Allowed Wicks % (P2-P3 Pressure): Filters out "choppy" price action. If the total size of opposing wicks during the momentum push exceeds this percentage of the total move, the pattern is rejected. (e.g., 33.0 means max 33% of the move can be wicks).
-
Min P2-P3 Size (ATR Multiplier): Filters out insignificant tiny patterns based on current market volatility. (e.g., 1.2 means the pattern push must be at least 1.2x the current ATR).
--- COLOR SETTINGS ---
-
Color_HLH_Pass / Fail (Main TF): Colors for successful and failed Bearish setups (High-Low-High) on your main timeframe.
-
Color_LHL_Pass / Fail (Main TF): Colors for successful and failed Bullish setups (Low-High-Low) on your main timeframe.
-
Lower TF Colors: Separate color settings for patterns detected by the lower timeframe engine. This helps you visually differentiate a Main TF setup from a Lower TF setup at a glance.
--- DAILY ATR MOMENTUM (IMBALANCE) SETTINGS ---
-
Enable ATR Runs: If true, the indicator detects consecutive, single-direction price pushes that exceed the entire Daily (D1) ATR. It draws a background rectangle to highlight these extreme liquidity runs.
-
Enable Live Audio Alerts?: If true, plays an audio notification the exact moment a live imbalance run exceeds the D1 ATR threshold.
-
Sound File for Imbalance Alert: The name of the audio file to play (e.g., alert.wav). Note: The file must be located in your MT5 Sounds folder.
-
Bullish / Bearish Run Color: Customize the background highlight colors for the extreme ATR momentum runs.
--- OPTIMIZATION & PROTECTION ---
-
Max History Bars: Limits how far back the indicator scans when first attached to the chart (Default: 2880). Lower this number if you are running the indicator on very slow PCs or testing multiple pairs.
-
Max Pattern Length: The maximum allowed distance (in candles) between the starting point of the impulse and the final reversal point.
-
Text Size: Adjusts the font size of the momentum scores displayed above/below the patterns on your chart.
