Using the MultiTF_TopBottom_Bands Indicator

1. INTRODUCTION

1.1. What is Range Trading?

Range Trading is a trading method based on identifying the price oscillation zone (range) of the market and utilizing price movements within this zone to trade.

1.2. Basic Principles

• Top: Resistance zone - where price typically gets pushed down
• Bottom: Support zone - where price typically gets pushed up
• Range: The distance between Top and Bottom
• % Lines: Important intermediate levels within the range

2. INDICATOR SETUP

2.1. Basic Parameters

TF1 (Main Timeframe - H1)

TF1 = PERIOD_H1 Len1 = 60 (60 candles to determine range) Ypercent_TF1 = 30.0% (30% zone from top/bottom) Colors: Blue (Top/Bottom), Aqua (% lines)

TF2 (Secondary Timeframe - M5)

TF2 = PERIOD_M5 Len2 = 60 Ypercent_TF2 = 30.0% Colors: Red (Top/Bottom), Orange (% lines)

2.2. Line Meanings

• TF1_Top/Bot (Blue): Main range from H1
• TF1_P1/P2 (Aqua): 30% zone from top and bottom of H1
• TF2_Top/Bot (Red): Short-term range from M5
• TF2_P1/P2 (Orange): 30% zone from top and bottom of M5

3. BASIC TRADING STRATEGY

3.1. "Buy Bottom - Sell Top" Model

A. BUY ORDER

Entry Conditions:

1. Price touches or approaches TF1_Bottom (blue line below)
2. Confirmation: Price is below or touches TF1_P2 (aqua line below)
3. Stronger signal: Price also touches TF2_Bottom (red line below)

Entry Point:

• Wait for reversal candle at TF1_Bottom zone
• Or enter immediately when price touches TF2_Bottom within TF1_Bottom zone

Stop Loss:

• Place below TF1_Bottom: 5-10 pips
• Or below nearest swing low

Take Profit:

• TP1: TF1_P1 (aqua line above) - close 50%
• TP2: TF1_Top (blue line above) - close 50%
• Or trailing stop when price breaks TF1_P1

B. SELL ORDER

Entry Conditions:

1. Price touches or approaches TF1_Top (blue line above)
2. Confirmation: Price is above or touches TF1_P1 (aqua line above)
3. Stronger signal: Price also touches TF2_Top (red line above)

Entry Point:

• Wait for reversal candle at TF1_Top zone
• Or enter immediately when price touches TF2_Top within TF1_Top zone

Stop Loss:

• Place above TF1_Top: 5-10 pips
• Or above nearest swing high

Take Profit:

• TP1: TF1_P2 (aqua line below) - close 50%
• TP2: TF1_Bottom (blue line below) - close 50%
• Or trailing stop when price breaks TF1_P2

4. ADVANCED STRATEGIES

4.1. Scalping with TF2 (M5)

When to Use:

• During highly volatile trading sessions
• When TF2 range is wide enough (>30 pips)

How to Trade:

1. BUY: When price touches TF2_Bottom + reversal candle

   • SL: Below TF2_Bottom (3-5 pips)
   • TP: TF2_P1 or TF2_Top

2. SELL: When price touches TF2_Top + reversal candle

   • SL: Above TF2_Top (3-5 pips)
   • TP: TF2_P2 or TF2_Bottom

4.2. Trading % Zones (P1/P2)

Mean Reversion Model:

• When price is in P1 zone (near top): Prepare to SELL
• When price is in P2 zone (near bottom): Prepare to BUY
• Wait for price action confirmation

% Zone Breakout:

• If price BREAKS OUT above P1 → Strong uptrend → Consider BUY
• If price BREAKS DOWN below P2 → Strong downtrend → Consider SELL

4.3. Multi-Timeframe Confluence

Strongest Signals:

BUY when: - Price touches TF1_Bottom - Simultaneously touches TF2_Bottom - Both show reversal candles SELL when: - Price touches TF1_Top - Simultaneously touches TF2_Top - Both show reversal candles

5. RISK MANAGEMENT

5.1. Golden Rules

• Risk no more than 1-2% of account per trade
• Minimum Risk:Reward ratio of 1:2
• Do not trade when range is too narrow (<20 pips)

5.2. Lot Size Calculation

Lot Size = (Account Balance × Risk%) / (Stop Loss in pips × Pip Value) Example: - Account: $10,000 - Risk: 1% = $100 - SL: 10 pips - Pip Value: $10 (for 1 standard lot) → Lot = 100 / (10 × 10) = 0.1 lot

5.3. Trailing Stop

Method 1: By Percentage

• When 50% range profit → Move SL to breakeven
• When 70% range profit → Trailing stop 30%

Method 2: By Structure

• BUY: Trail below nearest swing low
• SELL: Trail above nearest swing high

6. WHEN NOT TO TRADE

6.1. Avoid Trading When:

• Range is too narrow (H < 20 pips)
• Market is in strong trending phase
• Important news about to be announced
• Price is in middle of range (not near top/bottom)

6.2. Identifying Unsuitable Market

Signs of Trending Market:

• Price continuously breaks TF1_Top or TF1_Bottom
• Range continuously expanding
• Price does not return to retest top/bottom

Action: Switch to trend following strategy or stay out

7.1. Typical BUY Setup

Step 1: Observation - Price drops to TF1_Bottom zone - TF1_P2 is at 1.0850 - TF1_Bottom is at 1.0820 Step 2: Wait for Confirmation - Price touches 1.0825 (near TF1_Bottom) - Pin bar/bullish engulfing appears - TF2_Bottom also at 1.0823 Step 3: Enter Trade - Entry: 1.0830 (after confirmation candle) - SL: 1.0815 (15 pips) - TP1: 1.0875 (TF1_P1) - 45 pips - TP2: 1.0920 (TF1_Top) - 90 pips - Risk:Reward = 1:3 (15 pips risk for 45 pips average reward) Step 4: Trade Management - When price reaches 1.0860 → Move SL to breakeven - When price reaches TP1 → Close 50%, trailing stop remaining 50%

Step 1: Observation - Price rises to TF1_Top zone - TF1_P1 is at 1.0950 - TF1_Top is at 1.0980 Step 2: Wait for Confirmation - Price touches 1.0975 (near TF1_Top) - Shooting star/bearish engulfing appears - TF2_Top also at 1.0977 Step 3: Enter Trade - Entry: 1.0970 (after confirmation candle) - SL: 1.0985 (15 pips) - TP1: 1.0925 (TF1_P2) - 45 pips - TP2: 1.0880 (TF1_Bottom) - 90 pips - Risk:Reward = 1:3 Step 4: Trade Management - When price reaches 1.0940 → Move SL to breakeven - When price reaches TP1 → Close 50%, trailing stop remaining 50%
