SmartSignals Pro: From EMA Crossover to a Complete Trade Setup on MT5
SmartSignals Pro is a MetaTrader 5 indicator that shows a Buy or Sell signal only when several conditions agree, then displays the full trade setup on the chart: entry, stop loss, up to five take profit levels, risk/reward and lot size. This post explains what the indicator checks, how to read a setup, and how to test it before you decide whether it suits your trading. At the end you will also find my other indicators, including several free ones.
The problem it addresses
A moving average crossover is simple to read, but in a quiet or choppy market it can fire one weak signal after another. SmartSignals Pro starts from an EMA 9/21 crossover and adds filters to reduce the number of those weak signals. Filtering lowers the number of signals. It does not guarantee that the ones left will win.
What the indicator combines
| Component | What this tool generally tells a trader |
| EMA 9/21 crossover | A change in short-term direction |
| RSI | Momentum, and how stretched the move is |
| MACD | Momentum and its direction |
| ADX | Trend strength, whatever the direction |
| VWAP | Price relative to the volume-weighted average price |
| Volume | Participation behind the move |
The indicator also includes candlestick pattern detection, a session filter for the Asian, London and New York sessions, real-time alerts and a dashboard showing the current market bias.
How to read a setup
For each signal, the indicator displays:
- Entry point: the reference price for the signal
- Stop loss: based on ATR, so its distance adapts to current volatility
- Up to five take profit levels: useful if you scale out of a position in stages
- Risk/reward ratio: the potential reward compared with the risk to the stop
- Lot size: calculated from the risk percentage you choose
Why position size matters: a simple example
These numbers only illustrate the arithmetic. They are not a signal or a trading result.
- Account balance: 10,000 USD
- Risk per trade: 1%, which is 100 USD
- Stop distance on Gold: 5 USD per ounce
- Contract size: 100 ounces per lot, so the stop represents 500 USD per lot
- Lot size: 100 / 500 = 0.20 lot
- Risk/reward: a target 10 USD from entry gives 1:2
Contract specifications differ between brokers and symbols, so check yours. The point of the calculation is that the same percentage is at risk whether the stop is wide or tight.
A simple routine for using it
- Choose your market and timeframe. The indicator can be used on Forex, Gold, index and crypto symbols, for scalping, intraday or swing trading.
- Set the risk percentage you can accept, then enable only the sessions you actually trade.
- When a signal appears, check the dashboard bias and the risk/reward before doing anything else.
- Decide in advance what you will do at each take profit level.
- Place the trade yourself. SmartSignals Pro does not open trades.
Test it before you buy
You can download the demo and review the indicator in the Strategy Tester visual mode. I suggest you check four things:
- How often it signals on your symbol and timeframe
- How signals behave on the forming bar compared with the closed bar
- Whether the stop distance suits your account size and your broker's spread
- How the setups behave during your own trading hours
The indicator currently has two buyer reviews, both rated 5 stars. Both buyers mention acting on the signal as soon as it appears. Two reviews are a small sample and are not evidence of future performance, so your own testing should carry more weight.

My other indicators
Smart Octave Pro (MT5, paid) divides each confirmed swing into octave levels from 0/8 to 8/8, draws time-price angles from the swing extreme and marks a signal when a bar closes beyond the 4/8 level. It shows an entry zone, a stop level and three targets. Signals are calculated on closed bars only and are not redrawn. It also includes filter and multi-timeframe panels, and exposes its data through buffers for Expert Advisors.

- Linear Regression Channel: a regression line with upper and lower channel lines
- Dynamic Range Pro: a channel from the highest high and lowest low over a set number of bars, with a midline
Free indicators for MetaTrader 4:
