VolumeGap EA is an automated trading Expert Advisor for MetaTrader 5 that combines Tick Volume analysis, Price Action, Fair Value Gap (FVG) monitoring, and candle breakout strategies.
The EA identifies trading opportunities using predefined entry conditions and provides configurable Stop Loss, Take Profit, automatic Breakeven, Trailing Stop, and manual position management functions.
VolumeGap supports both BUY and SELL trading directions. It can execute trades automatically while allowing traders to manage selected functions directly from the chart.
1. How to Use
Download and install the latest available version of VolumeGap EA from the official MQL5 Market.
Attach the EA to the intended trading chart, review the input parameters, and enable automated trading in MetaTrader 5.
The EA can operate automatically according to its configured trading conditions. Manual chart controls are also available when intervention is required.
2. Recommended Trading Configuration
Recommended Instrument: XAUUSD (3-digit pricing)
Recommended Timeframe: M1
Account Types Used for Testing: Exness Zero and Exness Cent
Suggested Starting Deposit: USD 1,000
Trading Symbol: XAUUSD
Broker Compatibility: Exness and other brokers supporting MetaTrader 5, subject to symbol specifications and execution conditions.
The suggested deposit is a configuration reference rather than a guarantee of sufficient margin or acceptable risk. Required capital depends on leverage, contract specifications, trading volume, and market conditions.
Risk Management: Select position sizes according to account balance, available margin, leverage, and acceptable drawdown.
Testing: Backtest the EA using appropriate historical data and evaluate its operation on a demo account before live trading.
Default parameters are starting configurations and may require adjustment for different brokers, trading symbols, and market conditions.
3. Tick Volume Detection
VolumeGap uses Tick Volume analysis as an initial component of its trading signal evaluation.
The EA detects qualifying Tick Volume candles according to configurable minimum and maximum volume thresholds.
When a qualifying candle is identified, the EA records the relevant price information and monitors subsequent price movements.
Tick Volume information is combined with Price Action conditions to determine whether a trading setup meets the entry requirements.
The system uses volume information as a reference for subsequent price confirmation rather than opening positions based on volume alone.
The available settings allow traders to adjust the volume thresholds according to their preferred trading configuration.
4. Volume Killed Strategy
VolumeGap includes a Volume Killed mechanism designed to monitor price movements around qualifying Tick Volume candles.
When the market price sweeps above or below the High or Low of a qualifying Volume candle, the EA evaluates the surrounding candle structure and waits for additional breakout confirmation.
Volume Killed Trading Process
Step 1 – Volume Candle Detection
The EA identifies and stores a qualifying Tick Volume candle according to the configured volume conditions.
Step 2 – Price Sweep Monitoring
The EA monitors whether price sweeps the High or Low of the qualifying Volume candle within the configured validity period.
Step 3 – Candle Cluster Tracking
After a qualifying price sweep, the EA tracks the High and Low of the relevant candle cluster.
Step 4 – Breakout Confirmation
The EA waits for a completed candle to close outside the applicable candle cluster range.
Step 5 – Trade Execution
A confirmed closing breakout above the relevant cluster High can generate a BUY entry when the remaining trading conditions are satisfied.
A confirmed closing breakout below the relevant cluster Low can generate a SELL entry when the remaining trading conditions are satisfied.
The confirmed breakout direction determines the direction of the corresponding trade.
Continued Signal Monitoring
The original Volume candle can remain active during its configured signal validity period.
During this period, the EA can continue monitoring qualifying breakout opportunities in both BUY and SELL directions.
This mechanism allows the system to evaluate subsequent price movements without immediately discarding the original Volume candle reference after an initial signal.
All entries remain subject to the EA's configured trading conditions.
5. Candle Cluster Breakout Entry
VolumeGap includes a candle cluster breakout mechanism based on completed candle prices and the relevant market structure.
The EA calculates the applicable candle cluster using the original qualifying Volume candle and the subsequent candles up to the candle immediately preceding the breakout candle.
The High and Low of this cluster are used as reference levels for breakout confirmation.
A completed candle closing above the relevant cluster High can satisfy the price condition for a BUY entry.
A completed candle closing below the relevant cluster Low can satisfy the price condition for a SELL entry.
Trade execution also depends on the remaining configured conditions.
Cluster Breakout Functions
Closed Candle Confirmation: Breakout conditions are evaluated using completed candles rather than relying only on temporary price movements.
BUY and SELL Entries: The system supports trading opportunities in both directions.
Dynamic Cluster Boundaries: The relevant High and Low levels are calculated from the qualifying candle structure.
Structure-Based Stop Loss: Stop Loss placement can be determined using the relevant candle cluster extremes.
Adjustable Stop Loss Buffer: Traders can configure an additional distance for Stop Loss placement.
Continued Breakout Monitoring: Eligible trading directions can remain under observation during the applicable signal period.
This mechanism uses confirmed candle closing prices as part of the entry evaluation following the initial price sweep.
6. GAP Add-on Entries
VolumeGap includes a GAP Add-on mechanism that can open additional positions after an initial entry when the configured conditions are satisfied.
The EA monitors qualifying GAP conditions and evaluates whether an additional position can be opened according to its trading rules.
Unlike a system that opens additional orders solely at fixed price intervals, the GAP Add-on mechanism uses predefined qualifying GAP conditions.
GAP Add-on Functions
Automatic GAP Detection: The EA monitors price conditions to identify qualifying GAP opportunities.
Additional Position Entries: New positions may be opened when the configured requirements are met.
Position Management Integration: Additional orders are managed according to the EA's applicable trading and exit rules.
Configurable Parameters: The mechanism operates using the selected trading settings.
Additional positions increase total market exposure and may increase drawdown. Traders should evaluate the combined position size, available margin, and risk settings before enabling this functionality.
7. Stop Loss, Take Profit and Trailing Stop
VolumeGap includes automatic position management functions for controlling trade exits and adjusting Stop Loss levels.
The EA supports automatic Stop Loss placement, configurable Stop Loss buffers, Take Profit settings, automatic Breakeven, Trailing Stop, and profit-based monitoring.
Stop Loss Management
The EA can place Stop Loss levels according to its configured trading rules.
For applicable entry strategies, Stop Loss placement can reference the relevant candle cluster High or Low with an additional configurable buffer.
Take Profit Management
Take Profit levels are determined according to the selected parameters and the EA's trading management rules.
Automatic Breakeven
When the configured Breakeven conditions are satisfied, the EA can adjust eligible Stop Loss levels toward the corresponding entry prices.
Trailing Stop
The Trailing Stop function can adjust eligible Stop Loss levels as market prices move according to the predefined management conditions.
Stop Loss modifications depend on market prices, symbol specifications, and broker trading restrictions.
These functions are intended to automate position management but do not eliminate trading risk.
8. Manual Breakeven Button
VolumeGap provides a chart button named MOVE SL TO BREAKEVEN.
This function allows the trader to request a Stop Loss adjustment to the entry price for eligible positions on the current chart symbol.
The manual function can be used without waiting for the automatic Breakeven conditions to be triggered.
Manual Breakeven Operation
When the button is activated, the EA checks eligible positions and attempts to modify their Stop Loss levels according to the manual Breakeven function.
The function supports eligible positions opened by the EA and manually opened positions.
Existing Take Profit settings remain unchanged.
For positions managed by the EA, the automatic Trailing Stop function can continue operating afterward according to its configured conditions.
The requested Stop Loss modification may be restricted by current market prices, minimum stop distances, freeze levels, or other broker execution requirements.
9. Profit Alert and Manual Profit Management
VolumeGap includes a profit notification function that monitors floating profit according to the configured conditions.
When the monitored profit reaches the selected threshold expressed in points, the EA can display a notification on the trading chart.
For example, a configured threshold of 5,000 points can generate the following message:
PROFIT ALERT: 5,000 POINTS REACHED
The notification informs the trader that the configured threshold has been reached.
The trader can then decide whether to close eligible positions manually or allow the existing automatic position management rules to continue.
The Profit Alert function does not automatically close positions.
Profit expressed in points is not equivalent to a fixed monetary amount. Its financial value depends on the trading symbol, position size, and contract specifications.
10. Automated Trading and Manual Controls
VolumeGap combines automatic trade execution with an on-chart control panel.
The EA can operate automatically according to its configured signal detection, entry, and position management rules.
Automatic Trading Functions
The system can detect qualifying Tick Volume events, monitor Fair Value Gap conditions, identify Volume Killed setups, calculate candle cluster boundaries, and confirm eligible breakout conditions.
When the required conditions are satisfied, the EA can execute BUY or SELL trades.
The system also monitors qualifying GAP Add-on conditions and manages positions using the configured Stop Loss, Take Profit, Breakeven, and Trailing Stop functions.
Manual Chart Controls
The chart panel provides five trading control buttons.
BUY Only: Restricts eligible automatic entries to BUY positions.
SELL Only: Restricts eligible automatic entries to SELL positions.
BUY and SELL: Restores automatic entry eligibility in both trading directions.
Close Positions: Allows the trader to request closure of eligible positions.
Move SL to Breakeven: Requests Stop Loss adjustments to the entry prices of eligible positions.
These controls allow the trader to change the permitted trading direction and perform selected position management actions without modifying the underlying strategy settings.

12. Trading Risk Information
Forex and CFD trading involve significant financial risk.
No Expert Advisor can guarantee profits, eliminate drawdown, or prevent trading losses under all market conditions.
VolumeGap uses automated trading rules, but its performance depends on market behavior, broker execution, spreads, commissions, trading costs, parameter settings, and position sizing.
Additional positions may increase market exposure and potential losses.
Historical performance and Strategy Tester results do not guarantee future trading results.
Traders should evaluate the EA using the MetaTrader 5 Strategy Tester and a demo account before using it on a live trading account.
13. Customer Support
VolumeGap EA is distributed through the official MQL5 Market.
The seller does not initiate contact with customers to request payments outside the MQL5 platform.
If another account impersonates the seller and requests external payment, customers should report the account through the appropriate MQL5 channels.
