RSI MA is a precision-built MetaTrader 4 indicator that combines the classic Relative Strength Index with a fully configurable Moving Average applied directly to the RSI values. Designed for traders who want cleaner RSI signals, the MA overlay smooths out noise and makes trend direction within momentum far easier to read at a glance.
How It Works
The indicator plots two lines in a separate sub-window:
RSI Line — standard RSI calculated on your chosen price source and period
RSI-based MA Line — a moving average of the RSI itself, acting as a dynamic signal line
When the RSI is above its MA, momentum is bullish. When below, momentum is bearish. The crossover between the two lines provides a structured, rule-based entry or filter signal — far less prone to whipsaws than reacting to raw RSI alone.
Key Features
-Flexible RSI source — calculate RSI on Close, Open, High, Low, Median, Typical, or Weighted price via a built-in dropdown
-Four MA methods — choose SMA, EMA, SMMA (Wilder), or LWMA directly from the settings panel, no manual input required
-Full color control — RSI line and MA line colors are independently configurable from the inputs tab
-Clean, minimal display — two reference levels at 70 and 30, no clutter
-Optimised calculation engine — uses a dedicated hidden buffer for MA computation, ensuring accurate results across all timeframes and instrument.
Compatibility
-Applicable to all instruments: Forex, Metals, Indices, Commodities
-All timeframes supported.
Use Cases
-Momentum trend confirmation — use MA direction to filter RSI signals
-Crossover strategy — enter when RSI crosses above or below its MA
-Divergence analysis — apply to any price type for a multi-source view of momentum
-Signal smoothing — replace raw RSI in existing strategies with the MA line to reduce false signals
