Economic Calendar: News Panel, Alerts and News Guard

Economic Calendar puts the news calendar on your MetaTrader 5 chart and keeps you ready for it: the next events, vertical lines on the price chart, alerts on your phone, signals for your other Expert Advisors, and optional protections that act before the news. Everything is configured from a panel on the chart. The Expert Advisor itself needs no DLL and no external program.

Please note that this product does not work in the strategy tester. To properly evaluate the product before purchasing, you may download the demo version from the blog post below.

Message me after purchase to get an additional program (free) that disables the Algo Trading button in MT5 during news. This additional program requires "Allow DLL imports".

What you get

  • Calendar panel on the chart. Time, time left, currency, event, actual, forecast and previous value. Rows are colored by impact (high, medium, low, holiday). Choose local, broker or GMT time. Released events stay listed for as long as you want.
  • Three data sources, one click to switch. The weekly Forex Factory calendar, the Investing.com calendar, or the built-in MetaTrader 5 calendar of your broker (no web access needed, actual values live).
  • Vertical lines with the event title at the news time on the price chart, in the color of the impact, with a size you choose.
  • Filters. Impact levels, currencies, speeches, holidays, keywords to find or to ignore. Special news (Core CPI, Federal Funds Rate, Non-Farm Employment Change, Main Refinancing Rate) and your own custom news phrases can be shown whatever their impact.
  • Alerts before the news (two alerts you time yourself): popup, sound, e-mail, push notification and Telegram bot.
  • Signals for other EAs. The minutes to the next news and to the last news, and their impact, are published as terminal global variables, so your own EAs can pause around news with three lines of code.
  • Calendar on every chart. Optionally draw a compact calendar panel on all your other charts, each with its own close button.
  • Settings panel. Change nearly every option while the EA runs (filters, panel, colors, fonts, alerts, news guard...), reset one tab or everything, and save all values to a .set file. Every change is written to the Experts log.

News Guard (optional, off by default)

  • Close all open positions and delete pending orders a number of minutes before a news.
  • Or close only the positions whose net profit is above zero (profit, swap and commission), at their own time before the news.
  • Get an alert when a new order is opened from some minutes before to some minutes after a news.
  • Work on all orders, or only on chosen magic numbers and symbols. Each news is handled once. A message (also on Telegram) is sent before the positions are closed.

EA control around news (optional, off by default)

  • Remove the Expert Advisors of your other charts a number of minutes before a news, and install them again a number of minutes after it, with exactly the inputs they had (saved to a file before anything is removed).
  • Remove all of them, or choose the EAs in a list. Filters by symbol and by EA name.

Demo version

  • Runs on demo accounts only and stops working on a fixed expiry date.
  • Same calendar, panel, filters, vertical lines, alerts (popup, sound, e-mail, push) and News Guard as the full version.
  • Not in the demo: colors, fonts and text sizes, Telegram alerts, signals for other EAs (global variables), EA control around news and the data download settings.

Requirements

  • MetaTrader 5, any broker, any symbol and timeframe.
  • In Tools > Options > Expert Advisors, tick Allow WebRequest for listed URL and add the URL of each feature you use:
  • Forex Factory: add https://nfs.faireconomy.media
  • Investing.com: add https://sslecal2.forexprostools.com
  • Telegram alerts: add https://api.telegram.org
  • The MT5 calendar source needs no URL.
  • News Guard and EA control need Algo Trading enabled (toolbar button and the Common tab of the EA).

Please read

  • The calendar is an information tool. The data comes from third parties and may be late, incomplete or revised. Check important news with your own source.
  • The News Guard closes real positions and EA control stops other Expert Advisors. Test them on a demo account first and make sure the settings match what you want. Trading involves risk. This product does not promise profits.
  • Both modules are off by default. Without them the EA never opens, closes or modifies a trade.
