1. The problem this addresses

One position is easy to manage. Six are not. Once several tickets are open — entered by hand, by different Expert Advisors, from a phone — the thing you actually care about is the combined result, and MetaTrader gives you no way to act on it. You end up closing tickets one at a time and doing the arithmetic in your head while the price moves.

Adaptive Closer manages the whole book from a panel on the chart. Close everything or one side in a click, take a fixed share off every position at once, move every stop to break-even, or hand the book to rules that watch the combined profit and the account equity rather than individual tickets.

2. Buttons on the panel

• CLOSE ALL / CLOSE BUY / CLOSE SELL — the whole book, or one side.
• CLOSE 50% / CLOSE 25% — the same share off every open position at once. Anything too small to split is closed in full, and the panel reports how many were.
• BREAK EVEN — every stop to entry plus your offset. Positions the server would refuse because price is too close are reported as skipped, not silently dropped.
• BUY / SELL with a lot stepper, and AUTO / TRAIL toggles that switch the automatic side on and off without removing the tool from the chart.

Closing buttons act on a second press inside a few seconds. The window is configurable and can be switched off.

3. Rules that run per position

• Staged partial close — up to three targets. Defaults close 40% of the original volume at the first, 30% at the second, and the remainder at the third.
• Break-even after the first or second target, with the option to add the current spread so the move is not eaten by it.
• Trailing stop that only moves when it improves by at least your step, so it does not send a modify request on every tick.
• Protective stop at a fixed distance from entry, on by default at 1.5 times ATR. It is placed on the position as a real stop order, so it still protects you while the terminal is closed. Break-even and trailing move it from there, never against you. The chart draws it as a STOP line with a red band down to it. Set it to 0 to have none.
• Distances are multiples of ATR by default, so they fit whatever symbol and timeframe you attach the tool to. Fixed pips are there if you want an exact distance.

4. Rules that run on the whole book

This is the core of the tool.

• Basket target — close everything once the combined floating result reaches your figure. Stated per 1.0 lot, so the same setting behaves the same way whether the book is 0.05 or 5.0 lots. A flat currency amount would mean something completely different at each size.
• Basket break-even — close everything once the combined result reaches a level you choose, which may be zero. Useful for standing down from a hedged mess without picking each ticket apart.
• Basket trailing — trail the stops of one side together, measured from the weighted average entry. It will not move a stop past that entry, and while it is running the per-ticket trail on that side stands down so two rules are never pushing the same stop in opposite directions.
• Equity hard stop — a stop for the net exposure, placed so that reaching it costs about the percentage of balance you set. Applied to the side that carries the net position.
• Equity trailing — after the combined profit has reached a peak, close everything if it gives back more than you allow. The peak resets when the book is empty, so yesterday's high does not arm the rule against today's first trade.
• Stagnation exit — close part of a position that moved away from entry and then stopped going anywhere for a set number of seconds. Fires once per position, never repeatedly.

5. It is free, and there is no second version

Everything described above is in this download. There is no paid edition holding the useful half back, no trial period, no position or lot limit, and nothing in the tool that asks you to buy anything.

It is free because I wrote it for my own trading and it costs me nothing to hand over. If it earns me anything it will be that you look at what else I have published, and that is entirely up to you.

6. Setup in three steps

1. Drag it onto the chart of the symbol you want to manage.
2. Allow algorithmic trading. No DLL permission is requested, because none is used.
3. The panel appears in the upper left. Every book-level rule in section 4 is off by default. The per-position rules in section 3 are on: staged closes, break-even, a trailing stop and a protective stop written onto the position. They act on positions this panel opened and on ones you opened by hand, and leave another Expert Advisor's positions alone. Nothing at book level touches anything until you switch it on.

It manages the symbol of the chart it is on. Run one instance per symbol.

7. Questions

Does it open trades on its own?
No. Only when you press BUY or SELL. It is a manager, not a strategy, and it makes no claim about trading results.

Will it manage positions from another Expert Advisor, or opened by hand?
By default it manages its own and hand-opened positions on the chart symbol, and leaves other Expert Advisors alone — they have their own idea about exits. Turn the magic number filter off to have it manage everything on the symbol.

Hedging and netting?
Both. On a netting account there is one position per symbol and the side buttons act accordingly.

Why is the basket target set per lot instead of in my currency?
So one setting keeps its meaning when your size changes. A $200 target is a large move on a 0.05 lot book and a rounding error on a 5.0 lot one; per-lot removes that trap.

Do I need a VPS?
Not for the buttons. The automatic rules only run while the terminal runs, so a VPS matters if you want them working while your computer is off.

What is the catch?
There is none. See section 5. Put it on a demo account first anyway - not because of the price, but because that is how you should treat any tool that can close your positions.

8. Please read before using

• This tool manages positions. It does not decide when to enter and does not promise any result.
• Stop and target changes are subject to the broker's stops level and freeze level. When a level is too close to the market the server refuses it; the panel reports that rather than retrying blindly.
• Rules that close the entire book are powerful and off by default. Set them on a demo account first and watch one trigger before trusting them with real positions.
• No DLL, no network calls, no external licensing.
