Buying the Dips
Buying the Dips is a professional oscillator designed to identify market extremes and trend-based pullbacks across all markets and timeframes. Two adaptive quotient lines, visual trend clouds, and optional swing and scalping signals provide clear, non-repainting trading impulses for traders who want to identify oversold dips and overbought zones with precision.
How It Works
The indicator is built on an advanced quotient engine using high-pass filtering and adaptive normalization. It calculates two independent oscillators — a Fast line and a Slow line — that evaluate price movement relative to local volatility. A high-pass filter removes market noise, followed by smoothing via recursive filter coefficients. Dynamic peak normalization scales extreme values adaptively, and a quotient transformation constrains all output values within a stable, readable range.
Signal Generation
Swing Buy signals are generated when the Fast line crosses above the Slow line from an oversold zone, confirmed by an additional threshold and lookback condition. Swing Sell signals appear when the Slow line exits an overbought extreme zone, provided a prior minimum overbought condition has been met. An optional scalping mode generates additional high-frequency signals based on extreme zone breakouts confirmed by the Fast line — intended for experienced traders with active risk management.
Visual Elements
The indicator displays two color-coded quotient lines (Fast and Slow), a dynamic bullish and bearish cloud showing trend dominance, separate arrows for swing and scalping signals, and fixed reference levels at 0, ±ExtremeLevel, and ±1.
Settings
The Signal Level (ExtremeLevel) can be set between 0.8 and 0.99. Higher values produce fewer but higher-quality signals; lower values generate earlier and more aggressive entries. The SellThreshold and BuyThreshold are optimally pre-configured but can be adjusted between 0.7–0.99 and -0.7 to -0.99 respectively, depending on market volatility and trading style. Scalping mode can be enabled separately for lower timeframes.
Features
The indicator does not repaint and uses no future data. It supports alerts and push notifications and is compatible with Forex, indices, crypto, and CFDs on all timeframes.
