A hard stop your discipline can't argue with. Free - no DLL, no internet, no subscription.
PFX Equity Shield watches your whole account - every symbol, every EA, every manual trade - against the limits you set. The moment a limit is hit it closes every open trade and pending order, removes the EA from every other chart (your charts and layouts stay exactly as they were - only the robots are unloaded), and locks the account. A daily breach releases at the next trading day; an account-level breach holds until you deliberately reset it.
Built for prop-firm challenges, and for anyone whose worst trading happens AFTER the first bad hour.
SETUP - two steps
- Attach to any one chart. The symbol and timeframe do not matter - the shield works account-wide.
- Set your limits. The defaults (4% daily, 8% overall) sit safely inside the usual 5%/10% challenge rules.
Leave Account Size at 0 and every limit trails your balance - the reference re-baselines as you win and lose. Type your challenge size instead and the reference is pinned to it, exactly as the firm measures.
WHAT IT WATCHES
- MAX DAILY DRAWDOWN % - loss from the day-start baseline. You choose the baseline: balance, equity, or the higher of the two (the strictest reading - what most firms use).
- MAX ACCOUNT DRAWDOWN % - Normal (measured from your account size) or Trailing (measured from your equity high-water mark, so the floor rises as you profit and never falls).
- DAILY PROFIT TARGET % - hit your number for the day, the shield banks it and stops the day.
- ACCOUNT PROFIT TARGET % - pass your challenge target, the shield locks the gain so a last trade can't give it back.
- CONSISTENCY RULE - some firms cap your best day at X% of total profit. The shield tracks it live on a panel gauge, warns when the cap breaks, and can bank the day before today grows past it. I have not seen another free tool do this.
EARLY WARNING
The hard stop is the last resort. Before it, one tap on the shoulder: at 80% (adjustable) of either drawdown limit you get the full alert treatment - while there is still room to stop yourself.
SCHEDULED HOLDS
- NEWS WINDOWS - list times like 13:25-13:40 (server time) and the shield flattens and holds through each one. Doubles as compliance on firms that ban news trading.
- FRIDAY CLOSE-OUT - flatten at a set time on Friday and stay flat into the weekend. No accidental weekend holds.
WHAT A BREACH DOES
- Closes every open position and deletes every pending order - all symbols, all magic numbers
- Removes the EA from every other chart - your charts, indicators and drawings stay untouched, only the robots are unloaded. Prefer the hard version? Set it to close the charts instead.
- A chart that will not release its EA, or gains a new one while locked, is dealt with again - and closed as a last resort
- Keeps enforcing: anything that somehow opens while locked is flattened again
- Tells you everywhere - pop-up alert, push notification to your phone, sound
BUILT TO HOLD
- The lock is stored in the terminal - restarting MetaTrader does NOT reset it
- Daily locks release automatically at the server-day roll; account locks need a deliberate manual reset
- The shield's own chart stays open - it is the guard on the door
- One instance per account, enforced - a second attach refuses politely
- The account size is remembered from first attach, so a mid-challenge re-attach cannot silently re-baseline your percentages
THE DASHBOARD
A dark, professional on-chart dashboard - the same design language as the PFX Trade Copier - shows status, both drawdown gauges, both profit targets and the consistency gauge live, colour-coded green / amber / red as you approach each line.
