A ton of work has gone into this to make it the best I can make it, and it is free - not a trial, not a lite version - and it always will be. I am still developing it, so expect regular updates. Spotted a bug, or want something added? Reach out in the Comments and I will get it done.
PFX Equity Shield watches your whole account - every symbol, every EA, every manual trade - against the limits you set. The moment a limit is hit it closes every open trade and pending order, removes the EA from every other chart (your charts and layouts stay exactly as they were - only the robots are unloaded), and locks the account. A daily breach releases at the next trading day; an account-level breach holds until you deliberately reset it.
Built for prop-firm challenges, and for anyone whose worst trading happens AFTER the first bad hour.
NEW IN 1.23 - A BRAND-NEW PANEL
- Your equity up top in large type, with today's profit or loss in money and % right under it
- A status badge - PROTECTING, HOLD or LOCKED - with the reason when it isn't protecting
- Every loss limit as a meter: how much you have used, a bar that turns amber then red as you get close, and the money you have LEFT before it fires
- Targets only show when you switch them on - no rows of "off"
- Put it in any corner of the chart
SETUP - two steps
- Attach to any one chart. The symbol and timeframe do not matter - the shield works account-wide.
- Set your limits. The defaults (4% daily, 8% overall) sit safely inside the usual 5%/10% challenge rules.
On a challenge, type your challenge size into Account Size (for example 100000). The reference is then pinned to it, exactly as the firm measures, so a loss counts against your max drawdown even after the trades are closed. Leave it at 0 and every limit follows your current balance instead - the reference re-baselines as you win and lose.
WHAT IT WATCHES
- MAX DAILY DRAWDOWN % - loss from the day-start baseline. You choose the baseline: balance, equity, or the higher of the two (the strictest reading - what most firms use).
- MAX DAILY LOSS IN MONEY - set your line in your account currency ("200 down and I'm done") instead of, or as well as, a percentage. Whichever trips first fires.
- MAX ACCOUNT DRAWDOWN % - Normal (measured from your account size) or Trailing (measured from your equity high-water mark, so the floor rises as you profit and never falls).
- DAILY PROFIT TARGET % - hit your number for the day, the shield banks it and stops the day.
- ACCOUNT PROFIT TARGET % - pass your challenge target, the shield locks the gain so a last trade can't give it back.
- CONSISTENCY RULE - some firms cap your best day at X% of total profit. The shield tracks it live on the panel, warns when the cap breaks, and can bank the day before today grows past it. I have not seen another free tool do this.
HARD LOCKOUT - for revenge trading
Arm it and a daily lock refuses every manual clear until the next trading day. The reset switch won't release it, changing the settings won't release it, restarting the terminal won't release it. The you who set the limit in the morning outranks the you staring at a loss in the afternoon. Anything opened while hard-locked is closed again within seconds.
EARLY WARNING
The hard stop is the last resort. Before it, one tap on the shoulder: at 80% (adjustable) of either drawdown limit you get the full alert treatment - while there is still room to stop yourself. And the panel's meters show it coming the whole way.
SCHEDULED HOLDS AND NEWS
- NEWS WINDOWS - list times like 13:25-13:40 (server time) and the shield flattens and holds through each one. Doubles as compliance on firms that ban news trading.
- NEWS BLACKOUT - on firms that forbid closing trades around high-impact news, the shield can defer its profit-target and consistency locks until the window has passed, using the MT5 calendar. A drawdown lock is never deferred.
- FRIDAY CLOSE-OUT - flatten at a set time on Friday and stay flat into the weekend. No accidental weekend holds.
WHAT A BREACH DOES
- Closes every open position and deletes every pending order - all symbols, all magic numbers
- Removes the EA from every other chart - your charts, indicators and drawings stay untouched, only the robots are unloaded (and their leftover objects swept away). Prefer the hard version? Set it to close the charts instead.
- Need a tool to keep running - a trade copier, a news filter? List it and the shield leaves it alone.
- A chart that will not release its EA, or gains a new one while locked, is dealt with again - and closed as a last resort
- Keeps enforcing: anything that somehow opens while locked is flattened again
- Tells you everywhere - pop-up alert, push notification to your phone, sound
BUILT TO HOLD
- The lock is stored in the terminal - restarting MetaTrader does NOT reset it
- Daily locks release automatically at the server-day roll (or a UTC time you set); account locks need a deliberate manual reset
- The shield's own chart stays open - it is the guard on the door
- One instance per account, enforced - a second attach refuses politely
- The account size is remembered from first attach, so a mid-challenge re-attach cannot silently re-baseline your percentages
