GI FX Terminal is the native MetaTrader 5 companion to globalinvesting.github.io. If you already use the web terminal, this EA brings the same intelligence directly into MT5 — no browser, no tab switching, your broker's live swap rates, and your real account positions integrated. If you're new to the ecosystem, it's a complete standalone FX dashboard with 13 data panels on a single zero-flicker canvas overlay.
Why the EA alongside the web terminal
The web terminal runs in a browser and uses market-generic data. The EA runs inside MT5 with three things the web terminal cannot provide: it overlays your charts directly so you never leave the trading environment; the Carry Monitor uses your broker's actual swap rates, not generic rates; and Open Positions pulls your real account data in real time. The EA is also the only way to receive push notifications to your phone when bias shifts, rate probabilities move, new COT data drops, or a high-impact event is approaching.
Alert system
Six configurable alert types, each individually toggleable. CB bias change (e.g. HOLD → CUT_BIAS). Rate probability shift above a configurable threshold. New COT week available, sign flip, or extreme week-on-week move. Swap rate change on any of the carry pairs. High-impact calendar event approaching within a configurable window. Risk reversal skew sign flip. All alerts fire as MT5 popups. Enable push notifications to receive them on your phone via the MetaTrader 5 mobile app.
FX Pairs
Live bid/ask, spread, daily change, weekly change, ADR and ADR%, and 52-week high/low for 28 G10 pairs. Color-coded directional columns update on every refresh cycle.
CB Rates & Bias
Central bank policy rates for USD, EUR, GBP, JPY, AUD, CAD, CHF, and NZD with directional bias (HIKE/HOLD/CUT), probability estimate, and next meeting date — sourced from the Global Investing meetings pipeline.
Carry Monitor
Live swap rates for 14 major carry pairs pulled directly from your broker. Long swap, short swap, annualised yield, 30-day historical volatility, Sharpe ratio, and directional signal. Because rates come from your broker's server, they reflect the actual cost of carry you face — not a generic market estimate.
Open Positions
Live position monitor with symbol, direction, size, P&L, and running total. Updates in real time from your MT5 trading environment.
COT — Leveraged Funds
CFTC Commitments of Traders positioning for G10 currencies. Net positioning, week-on-week change, and a normalized bar showing positioning extremes. Updated weekly from the COT digest pipeline.
Composite Score
Multi-factor currency ranking combining COT positioning (30%), retail sentiment (20%), carry yield (35%), and CSI momentum (15%) into a single score per currency with directional tag.
Retail Sentiment
Long/short percentage for 28 pairs sourced from the retail sentiment pipeline. Contrarian bias indicator per pair.
Correlation Matrix
30-day rolling Pearson correlation for EUR, GBP, JPY, AUD, CAD, CHF, NZD, and DXY. Color-scaled from strong positive to strong negative.
Economic Calendar
Next 48 hours of high and medium-impact events sourced natively from the MT5 calendar feed. Columns show time, currency, forecast, previous, and actual values as they release.
Surprise Index
Citi Economic Surprise Index readings for G10 currencies — how economic data is printing relative to consensus expectations.
Currency Strength
Multi-timeframe strength chart (M5, M15, H1, H4, D1) rendered as a line chart directly on the canvas. Color-coded by currency.
Volatility & Options
Historical volatility at 7, 20, and 30-day windows, plus risk reversal skew at 1-week, 1-month, and 3-month tenors sourced from the options pipeline.
Market Sessions
Live session clock showing Sydney, Tokyo, London, and New York open/close times in UTC with open/closed status.
Setup
Add raw.githubusercontent.com to MT5 allowed URLs under Tools > Options > Expert Advisors. The terminal fetches external JSON feeds automatically on attach and refreshes every 15 minutes.
